Serial Number Not Recognized!

Hello all,

I bought a legacy Tablo dual lite last year in NY. A week ago , I hooked it all up wirelessly and all was fine.

I already have another dual lite at another place in FL. I’ve had an account and subscription in FL. For years.

I want the ability to record with the one I just installed so I tried to get a new subscription for it.

I login to my Tablo acct to try and add a second subscription. It asks to fill in the serial # of the new box.

After countless tries, it can’t find it on my network. The Tablo app on the TV settings shows it proper network id and all.

I called support, we tried everything, but the main problem is I can’t get past the serial # connection. It says"TABLO DVR NOT FOUND".

Any advice beside getting the 4th gen?

What does “we tried everything” mean. Does it even have firmware 2.2.58/2.2.60? Sounds like it is a used device. Is it still registered to the original owner.

One device is in NY and the other is in Fl. I’m guessing you have to register them separately since they aren’t on the same network.

New ID/email address etc.

Customer Service should be able to locate the Serial Number and also update the firmware.

Hello,

Yes I did register the NY unit on a separate account. I still get to the point where it does not see the serial number.I also checked that the serial number on the box is the same as under the unit, they match.

Hello,

Tried everything meaning

  1. Connecting to my network on common I.D.
  2. Updating firmware and software.
  3. Replacing the app on my iPad.
  4. Setting up a new and separate tablo registration.
  5. Contacting customer svc and redoing the same steps as above.

Customer svc has escalated the issue to the super techs. Will see what happens.

Everything else works well, I just can’t get to start the new subscription until it recognizes the serial number. I can’t record programming w/o a subscription.

This is a brand new sealed unit out of the box.

If it has the up to date firmware 2.2.60, then the unit should be pinging the tablo servers. And my-status should see them. Of course since the one giving you trouble is in another state who knows what is happening with the ping.

The only thing I haven’t tried is to remove the app from my TV (Samsung) and reinstall it. The app on the TV is accessed via Roku.

BTW, the firmware/software is current.

Any other ideas before I hear back from tech support?

If all else fails maybe you can still use the unit if it gets registered by the gen 4 app. That doesn’t mean that you can have a legacy subscription and use those features.

Hi Zippy,

I tried the gen4 app too as that app is backwared compatible to legacy, but that did not work either. Really strange…will wait for the super tech response. I’ll keep u posted.

Hey Zippy,

I’ve given up on this…tech support keeps escalating it but they can’t fix it.

I’m switching to another brand.

I’ve had the same problem with support for a gen 4 problem that spread to legacy with firmware 2.2.58. Even after providing photos and putting the unit(s) in maintenance mode multiple times I could get no information.

I gave up on a fix and just ask what physical RF’s were being detected for the same virtual channel. After 3 months of being unable to get that answer I had to give up.

They usually tell me that I have a confirmed issue with no fix and no ETA. 3 so far… With the Tablo Gen4.

Let me suggest one tech idea and the one I would immediately attempt if I were in your situation – based only upon what I can glean from reading through these few posts. I acknowledge I already have everything in place and for me this is under 5 minutes - just saying!

I would wireguard tunnel to your working home IP and router. Now the new Tablo is sitting on a known/approved account matching the IP from your other Tablo equipment. There would be no new account and leaving a simple tunnel in place is effortless and seamless. If that works you can then decide if you really want to have a second account. I personally would not. This would be my next step in your paradigm. Maybe it would work for you. Again, this trial is not even 10 minutes for me so I acknowledge that.
