I have a Samsung Frame TV and the Tablo app installed. When I tune in a channel it takes at least 20 seconds for the channel to start playing. What are some best practices to improve this. I will say I am connected over WIFI and can’t physically to Ethernet.
When I get a lag with the blue spinning circle, I hit the back button. That always seems to trigger a sudden load of channel. I have fount that the Back button is your friend when navigating my Tablo 4 gen…
I don’t know if this is an option for you, but I found that having the TV hardwired (ethernet) to the wifi router helped significantly speed up tuning into a given channel. This even though the TV and Wifi were within a few feet of on another. With a beautiful device like the Frame… kind of sucks to have any wires hanging out/showing, but if it does work for you, maybe you can find a way to run/hide the ethernet cabling.
Along with @dougweiser suggestion, if the frame is Ethernet-capable, you could do a test by running a cable along the ground to your router to see if having it wired is a solution. If it is, then you could consider whether or not it’s worth having a drop installed behind your frame.
Also, forgot to add, if a streaming device is possible, it’s another consideration especially if your router is Wifi6 capable. There are a few Wifi6 capable streaming devices now.
Wireless - 20 seconds to tune to a new channel
Wired - usually around 18 sec to tune to a new channel. I had one as fast as 10 and one as slow as 20.
I then compared it to my Roku Premium that I usually use (wired). It would be 8-10 seconds each time.
So the Samsung is noticeably slower to tune than a Roku, though wired helps a tiny bit.
Frame TVs are pretty cool. I have mine mounted in the living room with the single wire hidden to the box that contains the tuner, the HDMI ports, and the power supply. That box is in a wicker box on a shelf that can’t be seen.
