Roku Tablo 4th Gen App Update (v. 0.8.801)

Googling tells me apple tv has 9-13% market share. Roku 48%.
I think Apple’s market share (outside of ios devices and maybe laptops) is small enough that software makers would like to ignore apple, but just big enough so that they can’t. The apple sweet spot.
Plus it is a prestige thing. Even non-apple customers like to see the apple logo on the compatibility page.

Amazing how numbers move around.

Could your numbers be SVOD versus boxes.

Apple TV+ currently holds a 9% share of the subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) market in the United States

Apple TV’s estimated global CTV device market share declines to 4% in Q2 2023, down from 9% in Q2 2022.

I respect your opinion, and you may be correct but if they ARE working diligently on this, they are failing big time with their customer relations by not keeping us informed. They want to blame Roku when it seems pretty simple it has something to do with the information they are sending out in their app for all other apps work fine on the Roku. This has been going on for 2 weeks now with many people unable to use their product. I would have expected them at minimum to have come up with a temporary work around.

Absolutely, I agree that communication has been wholly insufficient. We should be getting regular updates on the progress.

I agree that it seems like an inordinate amount of time to get this fixed. Tablo 4gen app is not the only app that has had problems with Roku. HDHR I’ve heard had issues too after the upgrade to OS 14 but I don’t own one and don’t know if it has been resolved already.

What sort of communication? Every week they tell us ‘It’s still being worked on…’? They’ll announce when an update to fix the issue is available when it is available. IMO anything else is unnecessary.

They SHOULD make it known on their main web page and Facebook (maybe they do?) that Roku devices are having an issue currently and a fix is being worked on to make people aware before they buy one.

I guess I just got lucky, but both my Tablo’s are working without problems. Most of the TV’s are using an Roku Ultra 4670X and I have one TV using a Roku Ultra 4802X.

I did a search of Roku 14.0 problems. There is lots of discussion about the Roku 14.0 update breaking the AC3 5.1 audio format. The problem is not isolated to Tablo users. This looks to be a Roku problem and needs to have Roku fix it.

I’m still not sure why some Roku setups continue to work and others don’t.
