Roku 4K Stick takes 30 minutes or more to connect to Tablo

I got the Roku 4k stick and 4th Gen 2-tuner Tablo about 9 months ago. Both worked great but recently when I select the Tablo app from Roku I get a screen saying Tablo Connecting to Tablo.

When this first happened, I thought something was hung up. So I restarted/power cycled the Roku and Tablo. It did not fix the issue. I decided to let it continue with connecting to see if eventually it would. It did but it can take 30-45 minutes to connect.

I don’t have any problems with the Tablo or Roku once the Roku connects to the Tablo. Anyone experience this connecting issue and have a solution?

Are those devices hard wired or wireless?

You might try doing this since whenever I have an issue with the Tablo v4 app on any platform, I go into Settings and change my Channel Lineup by adding or removing some channels so that the Tablo v4 has to rewrite (not just update) the channel guide. After I do this, the app issue on whatever platform I had the problem on started working again. I then changed the Channel Lineup back to what it was before and the platform app still continued to worked.

@KimchiGUN the devices are wireless - WiFi.

@DaWeav I’ll give that a try. Thank you. I know it has nothing to do with WiFi because once I try a work around unrelated to the internet and WiFi it works fine with no 30 minute delay until I use it hours later or the next day.

Thank you @Willam_stock. I checked for software updates on both Roku and Tablo and was up to date. I have not rebooted the WiFi router yet because once I find a temporary one-time coincidental thing that gets me into Tablo fairly quick I can get in and out of the Tablo app with only the 15-20 ‘standard’ connecting delay. But once I walk away for a few hours or a day I get the 30-45 minute connecting issue. I’ve also tried clearing the Roku cache and removing and reinstalling the Tablo app on Roku. That works for the time I am using it it seems but reverts back to the connecting issue hours or a day later.

How is your WIFI signal? One of the troubleshooting tools people use is a signal analyzer like inSSIDer to check their signal when they have a problem.
Even if you’re not having problems with streaming channels, Tablo uses more bandwith, which could be a problem.
