Remote Live TV Viewing via the Plex Tablo Channel?

Running the
Tablo Channel in Plex and works great on all of my devices connected on my home
network. I tried accessing my Plex server (Running on a WHS 2011, quad-core
machine) from a remote location and I was able to play and watch videos in my
Plex folders, but when I try to watch Live TV it shows what’s on Live TV and if
I select any of the shows, it shows the meta data for the show. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

When I click
on the ‘Play’ button I get a message across the center of the screen that says
“Unable to play media. NameError: global name ‘MessageContainer’ is not
defined”.

If I try to
play a recorded show, it shows the meta data for the show, but when I click on
the ‘Play’ button all I get is a circle of circling dots and the video never
plays. After a while you get the message ‘The Video failed to play’.

Can you
watch Live TV or recorded shows remotely via the Plex Tablo channel?

I do it all the time with no trouble at all. If you can play your recordings then you must have done the port forwarding correctly. You are trying to play through Plex Media Server, not the Home Theater, right?

Maybe make sure you have the most current PMS and Tablo channel. But it definately works; I draw a crowd sitting on a bench with coffee in the mall watching NFL whilst my wife is somewhere inside a store!

Make sure in plex that your turn off “direct play” and “direct stream” when you’re not on your local network. That should take care of it.
