Gen4 4-tuner with no external storage, watching via Roku. I recorded the Broncos game on Sun and sat down to watch it that night. About halfway through, end of the 2nd quarter I suddenly got a spinning “wait” symbol, then a prompt that said something like “object no found. Retry?”. Selected Retry, and got booted back to main menu.
I tried to find the recording to resume, but it is gone like it never existed. No trace, looking via Roko or phone app. My internal storage is only about 50% full, if that’s relevant.
Anyway, just one more annoying failure in this almost-good device. If there were an reasonable alternative I’d have moved on by now.
My 4th gen just died after 11 months. Had multiple issues with it along the way. I would really recommend returning/refunding if you can still do that. You will be in for frustration upon frustration with this device and company, just IMHO.
Well you could turn off auto delete if it’s on. And make sure that the program recording options wasn’t set to keep only one. And then verify how many scheduled recording were taking place and their length since it will try to reserve the amount of space needed to make the recordings. It’s not like internal storage can save a bunch of recordings. Especially if you have a 4 tuner
I do have auto-delete turned on, but I don’t see any reason to suspect it was involved. The game was a one-off recording so there’s no number-of-recordings factor, and my storage is only 50% full.
I only use Tablo for OTA recording, mainly current news and sports and and a handful of recurring shows. For that use, 2GB/hr sounds about right. I have no interest in any of the FAST stuff. There is 115GB available in the 4-tuner.
Everything I record has a very short shelf life, IMO. I don’t want to archive anything. My Tablo is rarely more than half full.
I wonder if the mpeg 2 to 4 conversion kicked in, but not enough space existed, so it erred, then it deleted the original as if it had finished the conversion and exited?? If so, the deletion of the original needs to be made conditional on a successful transcoding.
Is your tv a Samsung? I was so disappointed, it was a pain to get it to work and then it suffered an early death. Customer Support was no help. So disappointed. It’s a great concept, but not a reality, at least not on a Samsung
