So I guess there’s no way to record local shows when Tablo’s guide says “No programming available”?
Programming by channel and time, like the old VCRs, is a feature that has been requested. I think it is on their future feature list, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Why would gen 4 users have to request manual recording. It’s been a feature on the legacy units for around 8 years. It’s not like the gen 4 guide is all that rock solid.
Yeah recording by channel and time would be nice.Otherwise I can see it’s gonna be problematic.
Actually I just discovered(I’m new to Tablo) that when viewing ALL CHANNELS there’s a listing and description of the channels that were “blank” when I viewed them under FAVORITES. Thereby allowing me to record them. Annoying quirk but I guess I can work with it.Hopefully they can fix that.
I wanted to record a 1 hour program that had no info available, it was a 2nd part of the program right before it. I set the first program to record and extended it an hour to get both parts in one recording.
While your program may not be the same situation as mine (part 1 and part 2), you could always record the half hour or hour long program before your program, and add the duration of your program to extend the recording to catch it. Then just FF through the first program to watch yours.
A work around at least for a problem that should be fixed with the ability to select a “no program info available” slot on any channel and record that period of time on that channel anyways. Sometimes these guide problems are the stations fault. They send info usually to several “guide services”, and Tablo updates information what appears to be once a day, and it comes from 1 guide provider. So if a station has a hole in their schedule and updates it the same day, you likely won’t get the update on your Tablo. While companies like DirecTV and Dish check for updates on these guide services far more often, and send out updates to the users devices much more often. Tablo increasing the guide updates both from the guide services provider and what’s being sent to the Tablo devices, would be a huge improvement for this issue, but it won’t be 100%.
Thanks but probably just easier for me to switch to ALL CHANNELS to program a recording then switch back to FAVORITES. In Favorites half the channels are basically just blank and say “no programming available”. No way to record anything on them.
Understood. I actually have 1 local station that has a 4th channel that says that 24/7, but has programming on it to watch. I’m working with them to get them to add info for that channel to the guide service Tablo uses, which would fix that particular issue.
