I kept trying to figure out how a mpeg2 video with ac3 sound was going to play on a device that doesnā€™t support those formats.

Iā€™m assuming you mean that the kindle canā€™t handle it?

We donā€™t have a Kindel app. If you would like to know whatā€™s compatible, this article has the answers: Tablo-Compatible Apps and Devices ā€“ Tablo .

You should be able to stream to any compatible device connected to your network.

^^^^ Thanks but it looks like Iā€™m SOL. I was hoping to just playback something recorded that doesnā€™t involve an Internet connection. The way Iā€™ve done with DVDs the last 15 or so years.Record it,finalize it then watch it on a portable DVD player. Could be copywrite infringement issues at play as well.

@tomkat, Can your current recorder record to a flash drive instead of to a DVD? Then maybe you could connect the flash drive to your Amazon Fire tablet and use the VLC player to play it.

No itā€™s an older model Toshiba,no USB port. I didnā€™t know they were even still making DVD recorders. Oh well even if I cant record something off Tablo and play it back on another device this Tablo is still a much better overall viewing experience than what I had.
