Big Tablo fan here.
Been using it via the Fire Stick for 3 years and it’s gotten better.
I love how Tablo seems to consider their users’ feedback.
Anyways, when I’m watching a show and I want to record it (e.g. a NFL game) but not the entire series (e.g. all NFL games), I have to exit the show, click on the game, click on record this event, exit, then click on the channel to go back to the game.
I would like Tablo to provide the option to record the show while I’m in the show.
At the current time, while you’re in the show, if you click the down arrow then click on info, it provides the option to record the series (all NFL games) but not the 1 NFL game.
It would be nice if we could record a program that we are actively watching. Also, that recording should include all buffered content, so if you have been watching a show for 10 minutes, and start recording now that recording should include those previous ten minutes.
In the meantime, a workaround I have found… when I am watching TV I almost always have my phone next to me. If I want to do almost anything on the Tablo, without interrupting what I am currently watching, I just open the Tablo app on my phone and do it there… start a recording… search for upcoming shows… add a series recording, etc. It is actually very convenient.
If I tell it through my phone to record what I am currently watching on my TV I don’t remember if it records starting now or if it includes the buffered content. I will have to try.
I agree it would be a nice feature to be able to record all buffered content. When I had Dish Network, you could rewind all the way back to the point where you started watching that channel, then select record to start recording from that point. Being able to rewind to any point and start recording from there was a nice feature that I wish we had.
I did this for the Macy Turkey Day parade… I went to another channel, went into the guide, and started the recording, waited about 15 mins and started watching it from the beginning. Nice work around!
