I have only had my Tablo for 3 days and it has worked fairly well except for the program guide. I use the Tablo with an Amazon Fire Stick 4K max.
Scrolling left or right works fine, however, scrolling up or down through the program guide is slow and clunky. Frequently, while scrolling up or down, the Tablo app crashes and I am back at the Amazon home screen. Sometimes while scrolling, the guide will say “Programing not available” on channels that just a few seconds ago had the correct info displayed. Finally, there is one channel that does not have any program data for either the main channel or any of the sub-channels (MeTV on channel 35, Hartford, CT).
Has anyone else seen this happen with the program guide? Is this a known issue? Is there a way to report missing channel info?
How old is your Fire Stick? If it is an older version, it might not have enough memory to hold the whole programming guide. Also, if you don’t back out of the Tablo until it asks if you want to exit, it leaves pieces in memory.
As for the missing programming, you can try a zip code near you to see if that doesn’t clear it up. They are having problems with the company providing programming info, so you can contact support, but I don’t know how much they can do. They are working on a solution, but who knows how long that will be.
If your Guide fills in with missing entries and is slow or crashes when you scroll, it sounds like it could be a network issue.
Other than that, first clear the caches (TabloTV, Fire, Phone, etc) by using this article, TabloTV App Cache. Second, once that’s done reboot the TabloTV device and the router.
If none of these work, then please let us know how you’re connected to the TabloTV (wifi or ethernet) and whether or not you’re using on-board memory or have plugged in a hard drive and it’s model and size.
Try unchecking most of the channels in the Tablo channel list to see if that speeds up scrolling through the guide. I only have 20 checked out of 200+ on the list.
See if using zip 06101 gets MeTV program listings on channel 35. Tvlistings.zap2it.com shows them on that channel. Tablo and zap2it both get guide data from Gracenote.
I cleared out the cache and got rid of all of the streaming channels. That helped out a lot! The Tablo no longer crashes while scrolling! …Still a little clunky, but much better. Also, I found that the Amazon remote has a button which scrolls up or down 5 channels at a time. Using that, instead of scrolling one at a time, also helped out.
I haven’t tried a different zipcode yet to see if I can get program info for MeTV.
