Problem with 4K Max Fire Stick

Lately I have been having problems with my TABLO 4th Gen and my 4K Max Fire Stick. I get different types of errors.
Can not connect to TABLO
No guide data
No favorite channels.
Just to name a few.

I have tried, emptying the cache, stop the app and restart and also restarting the Fire Stick.

When I try on my Samsung Tablet or phone, it works perfectly.

Any thoughts or suggestions,

Michael

same with me today. deleted app on firestick and now can’t get the app to download on the stick. works perfectly on my android phone.

Hello @Michaeljr1953 and welcome to the community. Is your Tablo connected wirelessly or with an Ethernet cable? This could be what’s contributing to the poor performance.

I know this doesn’t help you too much, but I have the Fire Stick 4k Max and everything is working normally (so the problem is probably not the Fire Stick). To connect to the Tablo, both the Tablo and your Fire Stick have to be on the same network (same subnet). If they are on the same subnet. have you tried re-setting your router?

There are only a few responses here so this is not a general “happening” across the board or this thread would be lit up.

One thing you didn’t mention was whether or not the FS 4K Max was generation 1 or the newer generation 2?

I am somewhat of a FireStick expert and there are vast differences between these two generations of hardware. Unfortunately Amazon is updating their sticks and trying to remove guys like me from participating in my experience of how I control what my stick does.

I did notice above that you did not mention uninstalling the app from the Firestick and re-installing it. That is very effective sometimes. If you decide to try that and why wouldn’t you of course make sure to restart the Firestick between the uninstall and the reinstall of the Tablo app. It would remove any hanging “crap” that might be on the stick. There would be no harm in powering down and unplugging the Tablo at the same time the FS is being restarted. That way its a fresh start for both devices. It can’t hurt anything and might just do the trick for you.

I cannot go beyond this for you because I only run legacy Tablo’s and they purrrr like kittens when setup properly.

FYI - and unlrelated I have left Firesticks for new hardware and am using open source Google TV and/or Android 14 TV because they don’t fight with technical users in what we do. This may not apply to you in any way. There are users here that might read this and if you are thinking about a FireStick but want to use your technical prowess don’t go that route now. In a few months Amazon is going to use their own proprietary software and then it will be like a Roku stick or other controlled devices. Just saying for those reading along.

Ditto @Michaeljr1953 - we use the Fire Stick 4k Max and haven’t had many device-related issues.
