During playback gen4 goes offloads to AppleTV screensaver. Back button takes me back to the paused playback. Takes three Play pushes to get the playback to start again. Unnerving because suddenly there is a silent screensaver playing. Anyone else experiencing this?

Just to clarify, does this happen on its own or does it happen when you purposefully pause the video?
Also, does this happen with live over-the-air TV, streaming, and/or recordings?
This happens on its own. And randomly. (It just happened a few minutes ago while I was in the middle of watching one of yesterday’s games.) I have only seen it on recordings – but I don’t use Tablo for streaming or live.
I will say it is becoming more common. I first noticed it a few weeks ago – once every two or three days. Now it is a half dozen times in a few hours of watching recordings.
Is your AppleTV receiving any input from your remote? For example, are you fast forwarding during commercials or do you let it play straight through?
If you are only viewing recordings, I wonder if the problem is there. Are you using an external drive? If so, what kind?
Hi KGBnut - I hadn’t even thought of the external drive. I’m using a WD My Book. But I hadn’t power cycled for a while. I did that and haven’t had this issue since. Thanks for pointing me to the external drive. I haven’t watched a lot of recordings since I rebooted, but the ones I have seen have been pause-free.
The My Book series have a good reputation (as do pretty much all Western Digital drives). I have a 2TB WD Elements SSD. What capacity is yours? Regardless, happy you got your system running properly.
It turns out that power cycling the external hard drive didn’t solve this. It drops playback a couple of times a day if I’m watching a few hours a day. I’m hoping someone has some ideas on how to solve this!

For troubleshooting purposes, do you know if the same issue happens if the screensaver is disabled?
Does this only happen when a streaming (as opposed to over-the-air) airing ends?
