I’m getting Playback Failed messages on my iPad and Apple TV 4K device while watching live antenna TV the past couple days. Same channels play without issue on my Fire TV. Error pops up every few minutes no matter what I try. Also setup my Sling AirTV 2 to test and that’s working fine too for antenna stations so does not seem to be an antenna signal problem or WiFi problem. The Tablo is currently connected via Ethernet but I tried WiFi connection setup too but same problem. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling apps on both devices and quick click reset button on Tablo device but same problem. Thoughts?
I’m having the same problem. Brand new antenna, all stations clear as a bell on portable TV I use to calibrate. Fiber to the internal modem and a brand new Netgear router to a Netgear gigabit switch, wired to the Tablo; and it takes anywhere from 25 seconds to a full minute of the rotating “working” icon just to tune to a different channel. And like you, it doesn’t seem the antenna has anything to do with it. With a wired gigabit connection even the new Scripps news station takes as long to load as the live antenna channels.
I read in another post that a few days ago they released an update for Fire TV. I still have one TV with a 4K Fire TV connected and I’ll try that tonight. But I’ve worked on this for four weeks with no luck. If I could, I’d return it and give up, but it’s been too long; no longer in the return window. Scripps needs to get serious about this and pay some programmers to get busy1
