I have two tvs one is a Samsung with Roku and Tablo which works fine. The other is a Visio with Roku and Tablo which pixelates badly. Both use the same antenna and are on the same WIFI network. The channels that are streaming on the internet connection work fine for both TVs however all channels that are OTA are pixelating on the Visio TV. I have the newer Tablo (white box). Any ideas on what is causing the pixelation?
The Visio tuner is not as good as the Samsung. Samsung tv’s have some of the best tuners on the market. My 2 cents.
I suggest buying an amplifier to boost the signal from the antenna.
I have three Vizios in my house and have no trouble at all. I wonder if it is an internal network issue. My suggestion would be to swap the TVs, leaving everything else in place. It would be interesting to see if the pixelation issue moves with the TV (suggesting a problem with TV) or stays in the location it was (suggesting a network issue or problem with the Roku).
Is either set up hard wired, or are they both relying on WiFi?
Both are using Roku on Wifi. I have a mesh network and both have good WIFI signals.
I have an amp on my antenna AND I’m using the Tablo Gen4 built in amp, and I still get pixelation. I’m pretty sure it’s the speed of the device itself. We don’t even know at what bandwidth Tablo saves the stream. The Legacy unit has a setting for this so you can moderate your bandwidth for a slower network - the Gen4 unit doesn’t have such a setting.
The two amps might be interfering with each other. Try turning one off.
Ya, we did that with no effect. We’re only 15 miles from the towers but the antenna is in the attic, with large live oak trees in the signal path. I might just need to get the antenna outside.
I had that problem with a neighbors apple trees. I ended up with a thirty foot pole in the back yard to get around it.
Of course less than a year later the property was sold and the new owners cut down the trees.
Two tablos? What happens when you tell each Roku to connect to the other tablo?
Are the unused ports on the splitter terminated?
Yes.
