To anyone, after updating Tablo’s latest update to my Roku 4K streaming device, I could still not get sound through my optical soundbar. However, by changing my Samsung TV’s Speaker setting from External to Internal, I can now hear Live TV. I don’t see an external speaker setting in the Roku 4K stick, like it shows for a menu in a ROKU TV. I replaced the Roku with Google Chromecast stick, enabled Tablo’s Surround Sound Passthru setting (no setting in Roku) and it worked like a champ again. Does anyone have this kind of setup, and have it working since the Tablo update???
Update:
I moved the Roku device to a Sharp Aquos TV (OLD,OLD,OLD), and it worked without any fiddling of Roku and Tablo settings, but there are no external audio out connections for that TV. “Audio Compatibility Mode” is enabled inside Tablo app.
