Watched local FOX news this morning just fine. Now can’t watch the basketball game live on FOX. Record a few minutes, and I can watch that fine. Huh?
Google TV, everything up to date, cache cleared, etc. All other channels are fine live. FOX is fine live on iOS, Firestick, and TV tuner.
All I get now on Google TV Tablo app is one frozen frame of the live feed, that’s it. Exit and go back in, and the FOX frozen frame changes to the current feed, but no further frames.
I have not seen this behavior before. Anyone else?
This issue “spread” to my Firestick (frozen frame”) and iOS (video fine, no sound). Last night I started recording FOX news, waited a couple of minutes, then went to Library and started watching that recording. It was perfect.
So I watched FOX news about 2 minutes behind the live feed until it was almost over. Then for gags hit FF to “Live” and presto, it was fine. Went to the live tv grid and selected FOX. All good. Checked Google TV and iOS. All good. Somehow the issue cleared.
This morning it is all fine. I restarted the Tablo just for the heck of it. All still fine.
That is mighty weird. Glad you got it fixed they way you did.
I do have a question…should it happen to you again:
Did you try rebooting the Tablo puck itself? How about your router? On the rare occasions that my system acts up, these are the things that I try first and they usually solve the problem.
In the end I believe it is related to the “real-time recording while watching live” issues I see every once and a while. My theory is the “real time recording” file associated with FOX got corrupted somehow, and watching a separate “on purpose” recording of FOX and then fast-forward to “live” eventually cleared things up somehow.
I initially did not restart the Tablo as the issue was only happening on Google TV. When it “spread” to Firestick and iOS, I figured it was something with the Tablo itself. Since it cleared on its own, I did not restart the Tablo until this morning (just for good measure). If I had done that right away it probably would have fixed it right away.
I rarely restart my “router” as it is part of my UDM Pro Max gateway that runs 24/7. I do occasionally cycle a port on the Ubiquiti switch, or even yank an ethernet cable if a client is misbehaving. Most network management tasks (other than pulling a cable) I do in the Unifi Server Console.
I would still love to see a setting on the Tablo to “Enable/Disable” real time recording while watching live TV. I don’t care about pausing/rewinding live tv, and I firmly believe this “feature” is the root of my looping issues while watching live tv. Also, simply selecting a program from the live guide to record, and then heading over to the Library after it starts recording accomplishes the same thing (pause/rewind capability).
