I purchased a Seagate ST2000VM003 Pipeline HD 2 for DVR appplication, bare HD. I also purchased ORICO 3.5 inch Hard Drive Enclosure.
The cheapest and best solution, I think.
I got my Seagate Skyhawk with a powered enclosure connected to my Tablo. Works fine up to now.
My question is:
Does the Tablo put the HD in spindown sometimes or the HD is always active?
I have an external enclosure that shows rotation speed and I have never seen it NOT spin for the Tablo. Generally, DVRs tend to have the drive in a constant spin, especially Tivos, to be able to buffer whatever channels are selected on each tuner.
