I purchased a 4 channel Tablo Gen 4 on 3/28/24 from Best Buy.. On 4/20/25 it went dead. No blue light …nothing! I tried everything including the unplug ..also tried the reboot button Nothing ..zip and yes i checked the outlet it was plugged into. I looked up my original purchase and yes … I was precisely 22 days out of the one year warranty period. Certainly within a customer service concession time that almost any other company extends a one time extension on. I called customer service and a person who was difficult to understand I explained everything to him and he said let me put you on hold and then hung up on me… I called back…This time i was hung up on faster at least Third time I got a gentlemen who basically said too bad It’s out of warranty. He advised i go to Best Buy and see if they will handle it. Of course BB could not do anything without an approval from Tablo so I was literally left “holding the bag” I’ve never had such poor customer service … Just thought you all should know.
Good news! A representative from Tablo reached out to me and they are going to handle this for me! Customer service is stillalive and well at Tablo!
Actually, this sounds very normal. Most companies don’t have a warranty period that can “flex”. Sad story though. But at least to me, not unusual for anything (no matter what) no longer under warranty.
So I had mine die right around the same time, although it was purchased in September 2024, so still within the warranty period. I will say the staff is no longer understandable, not very smart, and dismissive in their responses. They always start with “reboot your router”. Really? Like the only device on my LAN is the Tablo. Hmmm, let’s start troubleshooting a power issue with a router reboot. SMH, I refused to do that (like I really want to dick around waiting for 50 iot devices to come back on line). They send an email with the button press cycle unplug/plug troubleshooting, does not work. That was Monday, sent proof of purchase immediately, even though they could look up the order via the Amazon storefront they operate but they say they do not have access to their seller platform. Never even got a confirmation email. Called today (Thursday) still no update, they said the warranty department is fielding hundreds of replacement warranty claims so I should be patient, and happy that at least they will send a new one. Really? I thought a warranty was contractual, like they are doing me a favor in complying with their own warranty. They used to be a good company, but got sold, outsourced support, and suck.
@tevans Some people have an old, retired router hanging around. The 12v power supply on most will work with the Tablo. They plug it into the Tablo. If the Tablo comes to life then it’s the power supply that’s bad.
