New Tablo (4th Gen) Roku Connectivity

Hi Y’all!

Pretty new here, I did search to see if there was a similar topic but I didn’t find one…so here’ goes…

I have a new Tablo 4th Gen that I am trying to connect with my Roku Ultra and 4k Stick, however I’ve had a tablo 4th Gen on maybe 3 years ago. I am sure I have the 4th Gen app (blue) and I’ve set up the Tablo with my iPad and it can connect there fine. I checked to make sure that my Roku’s and Tablo are on the same SSID.

When I open the Roku App, the app searches for Tablo and doesn’t find it. My hunch is that it is still trying to find my old 4th gen from 3 years ago, so I uninstalled the Roku App, did the secret Roku handshake to clear the data, reinstalled it hoping that the app wasn’t still trying to find my old 4th gen, but the Roku still can’t locate the tablo on the same network.

Any help here is appreciated…

Use My Status - Tablo TV to determine if the tablo server knows about your new gen 4 and what IP it knows about.

HI Zippy,

Thank you for your response. The My Status site shows the 4th Gen as operational and Registered…

I am guessing that the Roku 4th Gen App is looking for the previous 4th Gen I had a while ago and it eventually times out. Is there a way to pause its search when it launches and tell it to look directly for the new one?

Thank you

The my-status details indicate when the device last checked in. The device checks in every few hours.

Yeah, it is updating periodically. So the device is on the network, has an IP and I can get to it via phone, tablet and laptop, but not Roku App…

Check this Support Article. It may have some nugget of information that gets you over the hump.

Did you set up the new 4th Gen on your phone first? Did you delete the “previous” one first?

Thanks, to me the main take away was to rename the tablo, so I did that and still won’t connect to the Tablo App :frowning: I did reset, the router, tablo and Roku after this…just to be sure and checked the status with the laptop and saw that the name did update

yep, did do that just to try to make sure there wasn’t a conflict.

The issue is that I think the Tablo Roku app is still looking for the old one, and I don’t know how to suspend it’s search to tell it to look for a different one, however during the network discovery I would suspect that it would find a Tablo, even if the old one isn’t there but it finds a different one.

That does seem odd, Tablo Support.
