New LG TV Update

Didn’t see an announcement here but happy to see the update this morning on my LG C2. One thing I noticed right away is it performs quicker, seems more stable, and we now have FF preview tiles. I see favorite channels works too. Anyone else?

I noticed this on my BX this morning. Version 1.5.0. I started watching “Today” and noticed it started from the beginning instead of the current time. Fast forward and rewind buttons still don’t work. I did not see the preview tiles. The app does feel more responsive.

Seeking is now faster for me because it only moves the dot along the progress bar, but it’s completely blind because the video behind it doesn’t change. I checked a show that wasn’t being recorded live and the preview tiles are there. I went back to “Today” and it started from the beginning again. It lost my position even though I paused it before backing out.

Good eye! The announcement post can be found here: Tablo App for LG webOS Smart TVs (4th Gen) Update - (v. 1.5.0)

Preview tiles don’t appear until after the entire episode is finished recording. I f you are watching while recording there will be no preview tiles from what I have observed.

New problem (among the many new ones) occurring. In the middle of watching a recording or viewing a live channel: Having Trouble Communicating with Servers. Then must exit and restart the app. Anyone else? This one is really a complete failure. I don’t know what is going on but it seems to be getting buggier rather than better.

We keep getting told: “Our team has just implemented a resolution to the issue causing an error to appear on the Live TV and Home Screens on the Tablo Samsung and LG apps.” It gets posted and it is the response I get when I submit a ticket. And yet after days and days I get this when I the back button to try and get the guide.

Yep. Still getting the same issue. After about 60 to 90 seconds of tuning in to a channel from the guide, you lose all control of the app. Repeatedly hitting the back button until you get that exit dialog to exit the app then restart it is your only option. Rinse repeat.

Thanks for the confirmation that it isn’t just me. This is a serious issue that needs to be resolved.

To clarify on this further, we’ve already submitted to LG an updated release that fixes this (and a number of other small issues). It’s now in LG’s hands as far as the actual review, testing, and release process. We would get it to you right this moment if we had the ability, but that is unfortunately out of our hands. Thank you for your patience!

Thanks for the reply. Certainly more helpful and genuine than:

  • Our team has just implemented a resolution to the issue causing an error to appear on the Live TV and Home Screens on the Tablo Samsung and LG apps.
This change may take a few hours to appear on your Tablo app. Please wait up to 3-4 ours after receiving this message, and if you still encounter this issue afterwards, respond to this email thread and our team will investigate.
  • Could you please try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Tablo app from your LG TV? This can often resolve issues related to app performance and navigation.
After reinstalling, please check if you can navigate back to the guide without encountering the exit message. If the problem persists, don’t hesitate to reach out for further assistance.
  • Does this issue happen only on LG TVs, or is it affecting multiple devices? Also, are the other apps on your LG TV functioning properly?
  • and finally, Since this problem is specific to the internal Tablo app on your LG TV, I’ve escalated the issue to our support team.

The lg app is really bad performing on my lg c9 tv. Specifically when I try to ff or rewind a show, there is such a delay between button pushes and the app responding with the thumbnail preview advancing. It makes it extremely difficult to try to ff commercials. Even hitting the back button to quit watching a show is extremely lagged. This wasn’t the case with the previous version. An you guys please fix this?

There was no thumbnail preview if previous versions. So at least that was a slow step forward. Hoping for improvement in speed and better utilization of the thumbnails in future updates. Works perfectly on my Sony TV so I know it is possible. But as long as each update is an improvement I appreciate the appreciate them.
