Well I broke down and got the new Tablo on Monday hooked it up and had nothing but trouble with it. A lot of buffering and very slow response changing channels and the sound was constantly out of sink. I literally had to unplug the device at least 3 times a day just to get it to work. Also when you are watching a channel you have to go all the way back to the guide to change channels. Honestly the only good thing I can say about it is it did record correctly. I had the device plugged into the router with a Ethernet cable and I have very high speed Internet and I am using a Roku Ultra. Other people may not have all the problems I had. I took the device back to Best Buy this morning and I think I will just keep my Tablo Dual lite which works great. Maybe in time Tablo will get all the bugs worked out of it. We will see.
Was there something compelling that prompted you to try the new Tablo, like are you currently paying for the guide subscription?
The newly released Tablo 4th Gen works like a charm on my mobile devices, Walmart 4K Onn, and my Shield TV Pro Devices. What I love most about the new Tablo 4th Gen is I can upscale all the ATSC 1.0 {1080i/1080p} OTA video to 4K, via my home network 4K upscaling technology.
Actually the ATSC 1.0 video on The Tablo 4th Gen, since the 9/15/2023 firmware update is now better than the ATSC 1.0 video on my HDHomeRun Flex 4K. The Tablo 4th Gen has awesome picture pixel-enhanced crystal clear video resolution quality. {See The 4K Upscaled Video Photos Below}
I am glad the it is working good for you but it was absolutely dragging on my Roku. But everything else on the Roku work just great
OK, I found my Old Roku stick, as you can see I don’t have any issues using the Tablo 4th Gen via my Roku stick. Also I’m able to upscale the ATSC 1.0 {1080i/1080p} video to 4K. I suggest you find the bottleneck in your Tablo 4th Gen connections, including your antenna …! {See Photos Below}
I found my Old Amazon Fire 4K Max TV Stick. I don’t have any issues using the Tablo 4th Gen on my Fire TV 4K Max Stick either. Also, I’m able to upscale the ATSC 1.0 {1080i/1080p} video to 4K. {See Photos Below}
Notice the 9 News broadcast is in HD {1080i/1080p} See the upper right corner in the above photo. Again the HD video is being upscaled to 4K, via my home network 4K upscaling technology.
