Activate Offline Mode - Online My Status Feature
Add a button to Settings to display Tablo server status like currently exists via browser.
The button can also be used to trigger “Offline Mode” manually.
I thought one development objective was to make the gen 4 apps less dependent on phoning home. Able to run independent of the tablo servers.
I would think if a user was in a gen 4 app and able to navigate to the settings page life is good. If you press the magic new button and the tablo servers are down the functionality of that invocation of the app may be toast.
Perhaps. Gen4 is and will always be attached to the mothership by design.
Clicking on the My Status button and getting no response would then trigger the sweet sweet “Offline Mode”. The option to choose “Offline Mode” is greatly desirable.
The code is already there. It just isn’t displayed or exposed.
Phoning home is an architectural decision. Whether on purpose or accident. The actual touch points, down detection, and recovery is a design or lack of design decision.
I really wasn’t involved nor did they bother to confer with me. I did email the CEO over a year ago to offer my assistance.
I just want the button.
I’ve had legacy since 2014 and gen 4 since Oct. 2023.
I just want the gen 4 apps fixed and not get worse.
