What happens periodically to the menus to cause them to lose functionality? The movie and sports menus for me no longer let you view by channel/network? What happened? A bug? I’m on onn4kpro
It’s the magic of a gen 4’s total dependence on the tablo servers. Friday at 9Am the roku guide for movies, news, and sports had the network ribbon.
By 1PM the ribbon had the forever loading tile problem for movies, news, and sports. And the Fire TV stick didn’t even have the ribbon.
But the ribbon is present for Shows.
I started seeing this issue on my Roku Ultra early last week (no “Networks” listed under Movies, Sports, or News, but the networks/channels ARE listed under the Shows menu).
After restarting and power-cycling everything and reinstalling the Tablo app, I contacted Tablo tech support via their website on Thursday morning. I haven’t received any response yet, not even an automated acknowledgment.
I’ve heard back from Tablo tech support, but their suggestion of running a new channel scan and saving the results so the Tablo would do a fresh download of the program schedule didn’t help.
I let them know I’m not the only one experiencing this issue, and pointed them to this topic.
It’s a joke that all problems are solved by a rescan.
And the rescan has had a bug in it since day one. This problem doesn’t exist for legacy, hdhomerun, or an actual TV.
If you have a RF that is hi-vhf with all green indicators and a translator that is UHF with all yellow indicators you can watch the gen 4 detect the hi-vhf RF and then replace it with the UHF RF. I’m not really interested in losing my NBC channel.
I’ve always wondered why my nbc signal sucks. Thanks for the explanation. That’s definitely happening for me.
I think maybe Tablo is working on this issue, as I’m now seeing lists of networks/channels under the Movies, News, and Sports menus. It’s not totally fixed, though; the list of channels under Movies is shorter than usual, and some of the News/Sports options aren’t correct. For example, the News menu is showing a “Washington Post” channel, even though that channel disappeared a while back.
It pretty interesting why something like Movies/Networks/ViewAllNetworks is dependent on a tablo server when it is really nothing more then a list of channels that can easily be generated in the actual tablo unit and sorted by the app.
With the legacy and the hdhomerun a total list is kept until the scan is done and then the dups are tossed. You can watch them in the channel list panel. With my gen 4 I can watch the 4 green dot RF channel appear and is replaced by the 4 yellow dot RF channel as the scan moves up the radio frequencies.
