Looking for a Good TV Connected DVR

I’m thinking about getting a TV connected DVR to record live channels and watch shows more conveniently. There are so many options available now that it’s hard to decide which one offers the best recording quality, storage, and easy setup.

Does anyone have recommendations for a reliable DVR that works well with smart TVs? I’d love to hear your experiences and suggestions.

I guess not.

“There are so many options available now”

I would not say that there were a lot of OTA dvr options.

HD Homerun - one of the models does ATSC 3.0, but I believe does not do encrypted content at all.
Zapperbox (does ATSC 3.0, including playing and recording encryted content)

After that, not sure. There are others, but they tend to be no-name barebones boxes.
For example, Mediasonic HomeWorx.

Right now the Tablo is NOT the choice. No realistic support from the company and total inability to consistently restart a program you are watching if you move forward to skip commericials or other uninteresting material.

The choice will likely be made on what your other requirements are (eg HDhomerun needs an HDMI connection directly to your TV). The Amazon Recast is almost identical to the Tablo 4g and still works well if you can’t get the Tablo operating to your satisfaction.

And then, of course, there are the cable/satellite company DVRs which all work very well but you pay through the nose for them over time.
