I have tablo on two identical LG smart TV’s and a Roku box. The Tablointerfaces on the LG and Roku are night and day. The roku UI is 1000 % better than the LG. UI aside, I am continually having to reload the tablo app on the LG’s numerous time daily in order to connect to the tablo box. Many times during playback the connection just drops. Now the Roku is wired and the LG’s are wireless but every other streaming app on the LG’s work flawlessly, Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, Web Browser, Paramount, etc. So I’m concluding it’s not the wireless or the TV’s but the lously Tablo app. How about making it better.
Ok, so the UI/UX on the app on some streamers could be better - I’ll give you that. The streaming services like Hulu and Netflix stream to tens or even hundreds of millions of users - they’ve optimized their service for flawless content delivery. I believe the Tablo has higher network requirements.
Your issues could stem from your network or the quality of the connected devices. Or your wireless router might not be adequate or well-placed for optimal signal. Maybe your router is Wifi6 but your devices aren’t - or vice versa. It seems like the Gen4 Tablo has a way of sniffing out bottlenecks or older network equipment, including Cat5 and older cables. There are a lot of variables you can check before focusing on the Tablo itself.
If you haven’t already done so, I recommend you do a network survey or assessment to ensure you’re properly configured for the network bandwidth the Gen4 Tablo needs.
We were regularly having issues with our device and didn’t know the cause. So when I checked our network a few months ago, I found old cables, mis-matched wifi types, 4 small, unmanaged switches, and streaming devices that couldn’t handle the bandwidth. I’ve since cleaned it all up and now, importantly, my wife hasn’t experienced any problems.
I hope you can get the same results. Good luck.
people are gona complain about the service before they consider it might be them
Ya, it takes a lot to navigate a path to “acceptance”. Users should realize that their network plays a large part in issues. Some people can ‘plug-n-play’, but many will have some network mods to do on older networks and equipment.
all my android devices find it fine but my lg tv initially finds it and my phone asks me to enter a code after that nothing wont find it on my tv
EDIT: figured it out wile my android devices do not mind my dns vpn the lg tv does not like it LOL
Well, to all you armchair network gurus, turns out my unit was going out and has been replaced. Works 100% better. Oh, BTW, I,m a retired CCNA.
