Legacy Tablo's Problems

I wonder why there is little to no problems being reported for legacy units. Could it be that the previous company knew how to build a great product. Just wondering!!!

Most likely because the Gen4 is a ground up new product, with new software. Not sure what they use for programming, but the Legacy go back quite a bit and maybe some stuff can’t be used or modified to work in a newer OS or programming language/system.

They should have functional and non-functional requirements from the previous devices. They should know what features are useful and could have built a better device. The Gen4 unit represents an egregious lack of customer focus.

I agree my legacy Tablos have been rock solid for years now.
However, the 1st few years were not fun.

Legacy Tablos are 10 years old now.

What people need to realize is 4th gen is the next gen of the HDMI Tablo, not the legacy Tablo. And the HDMI Tablo had a lot of issues.

When, what is now labeled “legacy”, tablo’s were on the market, user would routinely post in the community forums - it doesn’t work. That was all the info they’d give.
Granted, this takes minimal technical understand with some DIY capabilities. So, “it doesn’t work” may mean everything to some and nothing to most.

Anyone still enjoying their trouble free device, has had it long enough to have figured out what’s not wrong.

Similarly, most/many/a lot of users here didn’t fit in the the “typical user” demographic.

The only issue that I have now is getting kicked off by the nightly, 4:14 am, “Optimizing Guide Data” message.

I’m sure you’ve seen all the postings about this. Claims about good idea/it’s on the roadmap someday it may be adjustable. I recall, it’s just “interactively” you get interrupted. Recordings continue. I understand this is the problem you have, but at least it will continue recording if scheduled.

1st, a joke…
I just sleep in until 4:15AM.

2nd, actual advice…
I set my router to disable internet access for my Tablo from midnight thru 6AM every day except Sunday.

This method has been discussed

Guide data will get updated when possible. What ever else, just waits until Sunday.
