Legacy Connection

Can’t connect to Legacy

Roku Ultra ~ Legacy 4-tuner.

I’m unable to connect to my Legacy after a power failure causing my system to reset. On restoration my Gen 4 came online with no problem. The Legacy comes up on my Android app but not the Roku. In the past when this happened it would ask if I wanted to switch Tablos. If I selected yes it would initially show (incorrectly) the Gen 4.

Now when I start the Legacy app it shows the Gen 4. When I select “Search Again” it again reverts to the Gen 4.

I have reset & power cycled the Legacy multiple times. Additionally, I have reset both the Roku and Router/Gateway several times. My router shows strong signals with both the Roku and the Legacy units.

Can anyone suggest something I may have missed?

Do you use more than one internet? We have 2 services we use in house. Whenever our main cycles off , our Roku jumps on the other internet.

Update … The mystery of Legacy Tablo

Unconventional, but I unplugged the Gen 4 unit and then tried connecting with the Legacy being the only Tablo on my WiFi.

IT WORKED!

I then restablished the power to the Gen 4 and all is right with the world. Don’t ask me why this worked, just file it in your bag of desperate tricks.

Sounds like somehow they both had the same IP address, and the Gen4 acquired a new one so they could both be on the network.

I only have a legacy unit. When installed I gave it a custom name (I think the default is “Tablo”). Don’t know if the gen4 Tablo works the same way, but is it possible the device names are duplicated?

Glad you figured it out. If there was a LAN IP conflict that would account for the issue.

A very simple solution to eliminate that possibility would be to create a static LAN assignment for each Tablo device. That means of course that the assigned LAN IP for each Tablo would always remain the same and unique and so NO other device signing on your LAN could capture that IP if you had a Tablo offline for whatever reason. Takes a few minutes at most but then the conflict will never happen again. Especially nice if there are other family members that watch Tablo and you are not around to perform the task you did to solve the problem. .02…

Agree, everything on my network is static.
