any ideas why my 4th gen 4tuner led stopped working? settings in settings on off have no affect
happened to me also, on two gen 4’s
others have posted about this too and some made warranty claims
but i don’t recall any mention of a specific cause
it doesn’t affect the functionality of the system so i chose to ignore it
aside from the downtime and annoyance, a warranty replacement would lose all of my stored recordings
on my tablos, the light does still blink white one time during reboot, otherwise it stays dark
Happened to mine also. 2 gen 2 tuner
Hi @davidrap ,
We recommend reaching out to our technical support team. They may be able to help.
im not exchanging my unit and losing all my programming.
I have a Gen4 2 channel unit. I noticed the blue LED stopped working a few months ago. But a few weeks ago I noticed the blue LED was back on. Now it’s back off again. It doesn’t seem to have any effect on the operation either way - the unit works fine.
I don’t think that necessarily has to happen.
interesting it started working again then stopped. i think its software
that’s what one of mine did, the other quit and stayed off
@davidrap / @gatorgogo Do any of you experiencing this issue have a UPS and a fan blowing on your device to cool it down? Maybe the passive cooling isn’t enough.
no ups or fans, but i raised them off the shelf about 1 inch so they are a little cooler. they do make some heat but that’s all I had the energy to do.
i believe Tablo once posted here that no additional cooling is necessary, so there’s that. and others have posted that modern ‘tronics run hot that’s how they are.
IMO to each their own and enjoy the hobby
The LED not working issue could be overheat or dirty power, that’s why I suggested both the fan and UPS.
When we first started with the OG Tablo almost 10 years ago, we had behavior problems like this LED issue that we believe were solved by adding a fan and UPS - is it safe to say that all computers run better when they’re cooler and have clean power? We’ve not had many problems with that old unit since.
We suspected that this one was running a bit hot and just stacked the OG upside down on the bottom and the Gen4 on top with the old, existing box fan sandwiched between them. I recently had to buy a separate power supply for the fan now instead of using the 2nd USB on the OG Tablo.
Our network has been upgraded to max out our equipment and Internet speed. You’re right, it’s a hobby and (thankfully) we think we’re finally rightly configured.
Much to learn by experimenting in the Tablo hobby. What would we do without it?
My 4th Gen Tablo didn’t feel excessively warm to the touch. It’s located on an open shelf. But I went ahead and put something underneath it anyway to raise it up about an inch to give it better air flow. The Tablo blue LED is still off, but not causing any operational problems.
A while back I did the same thing with my Roku Ultra when it started to send messages about being overheated. But after putting the Roku on a stand I haven’t seen any overheating messages. Roku overheating messages seem to happen a lot based on reading the Roku community support boards.
I never knew Roku had an overheat warning.
I just checked the Roku forums and looks like on Ultra you may see the led on the puck turn red, or there may be an onscreen message. Never seen either in my setup.
I do know I got my current Ultra to replace a stick, don’t recall which model, that ran really hot IMO. Bought the stick to replace a very old Ultra, and the stick was really cheap on sale. The Ultra I bought last year never gets more than just warm, but I raised it a little anyway.
I really wish they would creation a slightly more expensive option for the Tablo where it comes in an aluminum case instead of plastic.
