I’ve been trying to get a solution for this problem for a while… Since April 6, 2026. There is an open ticket with no ETA. 534678
Station KHFD 16 in Dallas scans and locks. I saved it in My Channels. It appears in my Channel Lineup. This leads me to believe that those entries are in my local Tablo Gen4 database.
Only 16.1 appears in the Live Guide. But none of the subchannels are listed. This is true for the Android mobile app, Fire Stick 4k G2 and LGTV apps. This leads me to believe that those entries are NOT in the Mothership database.
These are all MPEG4 channels that I have viewed in the past using the Tablo Gen4.
I can watch and record 16.1 with no problem.
Does anyone else in Dallas experience the same thing with this channel?
Support responded that they want me to backout the Firmware update from December and then run a rescan. Then update the Firmware and do another rescan.
It appears to me that my device is not at fault.
Offline Mode operation the channels 16.1, 16.3, 16.4, 16.6 all appear and are watchable.
It also manifested around the time that the Tablo servers were decommissioned.
Yes, I can confirm. The Guide shows Programming Not Available on the Gen4 device, but I’m able to watch the channel and #FunRoadsTV is currently showing at 1707 hrs CDT.
I just added it to my OG device and I’m updating my Guide now, so I’ll see if it works there, too, in a bit.
For these channel freqs, are they broadcast or simulcast from different antennae locations? I’m mid-central D/FW and my antenna is pointing to Cedar Hill, about 55º, oops, about 115º to 125º from north. I don’t know how I’d be able to pick up a station broadcast from Denton that’s 40 miles away when my directional antenna is pointed about 90º from our direction to that city.
I’ve had this issue for years. About 2-3 years ago, my local broadcaster for ABC, NBC, and CW added sub channels (Telemundo, Cozi, Bounce, Laff, Grit, ION, ION+, ION Mystery), all broadcasting from the same tower approximately 14 miles away. All channels show up on the OG—but the sub channels listed above don’t have programs listed (“Programming Not Available”), thus I can’t record shows on them. On the Legacy, I can do Manual Recordings and I do so off Telemundo to record football from Europe and Mexico. On the 4th Gen unit I have, same situation with the OG, but Manual Recordings are not an option on the 4th Gen unit.
At the time these sub channels came on air and I saw the problem, I contacted Tablo Support. After a few weeks, I received a reply (which I no longer have unfortunately), the gist of it being that because these sub channels are tagged as being “LD,” the company that handles the OG doesn’t provide details for them. Also in my city here in Arkansas, another broadcaster has CBS, Fox, and MeTv from one transmitter (about 8 miles away), all tagged as “LD” but the OG does show programming for those—why? One more item—some of the LD channels (including CBS and Telemundo have resolutions of 1080, whereas many of the stations that DO have details in the OG broadcast at 480 or 720 resolution.
Don’t understand why all stations don’t have program details, to allow recording with the 4th Gen unit. But it can’t be because of the resolution and/or LD/SD/HD tag.
Sorry, I misunderstood your post. The fact that 16.1 on the OG doesn’t show programming, thus you can’t record (except manually on the Legacy) mirrors an issue I recently had on my Air-TV device—but that’s a whole different discussion.
According to online sources, including Wikipedia, " KHFD-LD, a low-power television station (channel 13, virtual 16) licensed to Dallas, Texas, United States" shows it tagged as a Low Definition (LD) station. This fact does tie in to my problem and the response I received from Tablo years ago, that the company they use doesn’t support LD stations with programming (although as I wrote there are exceptions in my city, such as the CBS & Fox stations). FYI, the only Christian station locally is KVTJ and Tablo shows its programming—but it’s tagged as DT, “Full-power Digital Television.”
If you ever find a resolution for this, my guess is it will be tied into the ‘selectiveness’ of the Tablo programming service. Best wishes!
Gracenote (a Nielsen company) is one of the companies that provide metadata for TV guide services.
Red Bee (old BBC) is another one that was recently acquired by Simply.TV in Australia.
Data for both Gracenote.com and Simply.TV is provided voluntarily by the station owners. It is not mandatory.
Both companies fully support LPTV or full power stations.
Many Low Power Digital TV (LPTV or LD) choose not to spend the time or effort providing and maintaining the schedule information. Therefore it’s missing in guide services.
Again my reported problem is not missing guide data. It’s missing channels from the guide provided by Tablo Gen4 service. Yet it appears in Gracenote and Simply.TV. And appears in Tablo scans.
I submitted a request to have the missing channels added to the Tablo Gen4 database.
Each rescan produces KHFD 16.1, 16.3, 16.4, 16.6
