I just got my inlaws a 4th gen 2 tuner Tablo. It’s the perfect solution for the problem they have (poor antenna reception by their TV) but I’m having all kinds of issues getting this to work.
Setup: I managed to get it setup but not without issues. In the end, I had to use an iPad to connect to a hotspot on my phone to complete the setup, then switch the WiFi over to the home network after that. Neither the iPad app or the Android app would actually complete the setup on the home WiFi.
Watching the channels on the iPad works great. Tons of channels, good quality etc. However, I can’t seem to get the Android app to realize that the Tablo is registered and setup. It just keeps telling me to setup a new device.
Neither the LG WebOS app nor the Roku app can find the Tablo. The LG app simply says it can’t find the Tablo, the Roku app doesn’t fo past the screen where it says it’s looking for shows etc.
Any suggestions on how to get the Android app to work as well as the TV ones would be welcome. I love the idea of this device but it shouldn’t be this difficult to set it up.
For starters, are you sure you’ve downloaded the correct application for your devices? Make sure it’s the blue one, not the white one.
Secondly, make sure everything is connected to the same network and doesn’t have any extenders or other network bridges between devices.
One quick thing you can do in-between our trying to help is to restart both your wireless router and the Tablo itself (press the small button on the bottom once, but don’t hold it).
Many people have been in your shoes and this is the right place to ask questions.
Use the WebOS browser to browse to the ip address of the Tablo. You can get the ip address of the Tablo from the settings page of the Tablo app on the iPad. This will confirm the network connection between the LG tv and the Tablo. Also try the android browser.
I still haven’t figured out how the apps get the ip address of the Tablo. I think they might get it from the same place this page does. My Status - Tablo TV Try browsing to that page from a device on the same network as the Tablo and see if you get info about it.
On my Roku I have sometimes had to delete the app, restart the Roku then reinstall the app. But I suspect you’ve done that a few times already.
