Is there a restart command or...?

So I have two Tablo Duals, both have been working fine up to now (had them a month or so). Last night and today, one is stopping mid recording and giving me a blue circle. Sometimes when I back out, I can restart where I left off, sometimes not. I jumped from one box to the other and that fixes it, at least temporarily. I thought about a restart, but didn’t see a menu item & no switch. I’ve changed nothing in my network lately. Do I just unplug the thing?

Oh, and why won’t the Tablo show my recorded shows if there is no internet connection? I normally have a very solid connection, but during a restart of my router/modem, I tried to fire up Tablo and got the error message of no connection. My recordings are on my HDD, so why wouldn’t it launch and let me play those?

The shows should play if you have the hard drive plugged in and that’s where you recorded them too. Some drives have a random disconnect issue though. It might account for some of your issues.

So far as a restart button. I don’t have the Dual but my 4 tuner board has a little blue button on the back I push in for about a second to restart. Don’t hold it down any longer though! 7 seconds is for a factory reset.

If your router is rebooting, then you don’t have a network at all, which is why you can’t connect. If the internet is down for some reason, you will be able to connect with all devices except for Xbox, PCs, and smart TVs.

All Tablos have a blue reset button.

Ok, gotcha, that must have been it. Thanks for the info!

Ok, thanks!

@snowcat, not entirely correct about network at all. If you reboot the router you will loose access to the Internet and devices not on the same subnet as the Tablo and such, as the router is needed to bridge traffic from one subnet to another. In most home networks I would imagine that a single subnet is in use so you should still be able to access any device in your home that is on that “local” subnet. Now if your router is providing DNS and other services like DHCP for example then you could have issues.

But yes, no reset command. I use a smart home plug to be able to reset my Tablo when needed.

Everything in my home connects to the router to in some fashion, whether it is wifi, directly connected, or using the MOCA adapters. So while my router is rebooting, none of my devices can communicate with each other, even they all are on the same subnet. Of course, it is just for two minutes or so, so it isn’t a long wait.

Ah yes, i forget about Wi-Fi. Most of my systems are wired and my router is just that, a router. I grovel.
