Internal flash still full after factory reset

I have a 4th Gen, 4-Tuner 128GB Tablo (purchased Jan. 2024). I hadn’t used it for a few months, and when I tried to use it again, it was showing that the storage was full. Even after a factory reset, it shows only 17.0 MB available (of 128 GB Internal Flash), apparently not even enough to watch live TV. It shows no recordings.

How can I free up the storage? Can I reformat the flash?

Can’t you just go into the library and delete the shows on there? As far as formatting it, you can factory reset it, but you will have to set it up from scratch afterwards.

If you truly did a factory reset that should have completely cleared that memory.

I would contact Tablo support. You can send a DM, but I find I can get a faster response on the phone: 844-822-5688.

How exactly did you do the factory reset?

Thanks all. The library does not show any saved recordings. I factory reset by pressing the button on the bottom for about 10 seconds, and then went through setup again. I’ll try calling support.

That should have reset it.

Did it prompt you to format the internal drive during the new set up process?

No. I’ve been through the factory reset and setup twice now; it didn’t ask me either time to format the internal drive. Is it possible that my internal flash drive has failed?

Possible but probably not. I would first remove the app from your phone and then do the factory reset. Then reinstall app on the phone and log in with your Tablo credentials and complete the set up as new. I apologize if you have already attempted it this way to no avail, then call Tablo support.

Tablo 4G Factory Reset
Open the mobile Tablo app on your iOS or Android device. Select the USER PREFERENCES button on the top right of the application and then select the SIGN OUT button below your profile. If you are not able to access this screen on the Tablo mobile app, uninstall and then reinstall the app.

Make sure your Tablo’s blue LED is solid. Hold down the white reset button on the bottom of the unit for 7+ seconds. The blue LED on the front of the Tablo DVR will begin to flash faster and faster. Once it again turns solid, the Tablo will begin to factory reset. At this point, you can release the white reset button.

Open the Tablo mobile application on your iOS or Android device. Select I ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT and log in to your original account. From here, you will be guided through the rest of the setup process.

Thanks for the help, all. The flash now appears almost completely empty, several hours after my most recent factory reset. I’m not sure what triggered the cleanup, but it is resolved for now.

The legacy devices had a garbage collection routine that ran as part of the overnight guide update. It deleted all orphaned recordings and meta data.

Maybe the gen 4 also has the same functionality.
