If I upgrade my legacy Tablo with the firmware that takes it to gen 4 Tablo equivalency, will that install the Apple TV gen 4 design bug of not being able to watch a show from the beginning while recording it?
I don’t recall finding a reference to “equivalency”. I don’t think it degrades legacy devices, allows them to be accessed via gen 4 apps with FAST channels.
Personally, now that I’ve done the update, I realize that I shouldn’t have. Now it seems to be full-time connected with the back end Tablo servers and you can’t turn it off. Sure, there’s a check box, but it keeps re-enabling every hour.
Holy cow. You have used the gen 4 long enough to know that it is dependent on the backend servers. And even when the backend servers would go down and cripple user functionality there was little movement to re-architect.
Would you expect anything less for the new legacy firmware.
I even got an e-mail telling me of the wonders of upgrading my legacies firmware even if I never then register them as gen 4’s. Even though there is absolutely nothing in the new release that is of any use to me.
