Has anyone used TVIRL with Tablo and Android TV

I came across an Android TV app that (as far as I can tell) is supposed to integrate streaming sources into Android TV’s live channels. I am not sure if the way it sees and handles streams is compatible with Tablo. The developer can not test because he is in Europe. I can not test because I still do not have a Tablo yet.

(From Google Play)
Features:

  • Load M3U playlist (local or from internet)
  • Programs (EPG) in XmlTV and JTV formats
  • Load channels logo
  • Multicast/UDP, DASH, HLS, HTTP Progressive, RTMP
  • MPEG-TS, mp4
  • h264/h265/MPEG-2/AC-3/MP2/MP3/… etc. (depends on decoders installed on the device)
  • Add your own archives with logo or EPG

(from Twitter)
And other improvements for streams handling. HLS, MPEG-TS, MP3 in FLV. Better adaptive track selection.

I think it may be currently limited to Nexus player and Shield TV.

The TVIRL app looks to simply be a different wrapper for the incoming streams. (I used a predecessor to TVIRL for a while, but never used this actual app). Since it is using the “Google Live Channels App”, it should work on any of what I label as “Actual AndroidTV Devices”, but not the cheapo “Android TV Box” devices that are using the tablet versions of android.

In order to import a streaming source, you would need to know the address of the feed. (the m3u playlist)

If a developer who has seen the API could reply with the “Does Tablo’s API use a standardized m3u playlist for each channel” you will have your answer… Yes = it will work, No = Not happening.
