Guide says "Ended 56 yrs 4 mths ago"

My Tablo 4th gen was not recording any of my shows today. I rebooted and updated the guide. Some of my shows showed up as scheduled recordings. When I select the ones in the Guide that didn’t, it says “Ended 56 yrs 4 mths ago”. I have rebooted, updated Roku app, reloaded the Guide several times. No luck.

Just wondering, does anyone from Tablo even look at these forum postings???

It’s a known issue, there are thousands of us with the same problem, Tablo I was working on it, it has been for a week, but they don’t seem to be making much progress.

I get that too. My Guide worked for a day or so and is now back to Missing Guide Data - Gaps in the Guide. Tues eve I had NO Guide at all. Worked Weds till the evening and went back to gaps in programming data. So some shows you select will pop that msg you described. Always something with Tablo. Wish I had Never bought this device.

I have seen this issue for months. It’s likely the current guide issue has just made that worse or more discoverable.

same here ,but not as often

Mine now shows programs that were not in the Guide yesterday, but won’t allow me to record them. I get “Unable to record due to an error.” And then a message to sync the guide … which I’ve done dozens of times over the last week. Sigh …

Time sync issue?
On mine this also appears to occur only for live recordings. The hack is to record the show before and extend the recording

Same problem started on 8/7/2025. Reset Roku, rebooted Tablo 4th Gen and updated guide. No change. The Tablo is useless for recording. I can’t believe it’s taking this long to fix the Guide.

You mean after all the posts saying that out of the big 4 networks that NBC seemed to be the least reliable, you didn’t believe the posts.

I never had a problem with the older Tablo. The 4 generation Tablo appears to have major problems. Can you still use the old Tablo. Mine is in storage but I will dig for it and return the defective 4 generation.

Maybe take a time warp to gen 1 legacy in 2014.

Yes, you can. I’m still using my 2015 OG Legacy device. Do you remember if you purchased the lifetime Guide? If not, you may need to purchase/reactivate its $4.99/mo Guide subscription.

Are you having any problems that the 4 generation is?

No, none.

Same problem with my Gen4 regarding the “ended 56 years ago”. WHEN are they going to fix this. If not soon I need to return this Gen 4 and do something else real soon. I’m thinking Tablo is a software nightmare at this point. Seems to constantly have some flaky issue that needs a reboot daily.

They’ll fix it.

Just be glad Tablo is not an oil refinery or similar in your town. :upside_down_face:
Tablo is down and I can’t watch my recording of “Runaway Train” :upside_down_face:

Same issue in zip code 20878 for MD. NO NFL games can be recorded on CBS tonight unless the game was 56 years ago…sigh

I wonder if this has something to do with “Unix Time”. This is a computer standard where January 1, 1970, is 0, and you count seconds from that.

Possibly the guide data has it’s time based on a recent date (January 1, 2025?), and it’s confusing the Tablo into thinking it’s too old.

I get this where I’m able to record, for example the NBC Evening News but cannot record the Today Show or Meet the Press. Locals seem fine but nationals seem quirky. Tried via Apple TV and Roku.. both same issues.

Just wondering, does anyone from Tablo even look at these forum postings???

I’m more interested to know if anyone at Tablo has ever tried to use the product. There are so many bugs it’s unbelievable. I’ve thought about sitting down and documenting them, but it takes a lot of time to do and nothing ever gets resolved anyway.
