Guide issues, double channels listed 4th gen (SOLVED) kind of

SID 5087B8506893 With two of the same channels listed (10.1 and PBS), if a recording is scheduled, then the DVR won’t record either. I’m still on the 2.2.54 FW. The latest update has not hit me yet. I have tried rescanning the guide and also deselecting the channel, both channels go away, but come back when reselecting the channel. Zip code 02864

I got pushed the FW update today. Still have double channel issue. Now doing an update guide now.. Extremely slow update, this will take hours to do!!

No change with the FW and guide updated. I just tried unplugging and replunging of the DVR.

Recap: problem started with 2.2.54, I rest the DVR and no changes. FW update 2.2.26, and no changes. Double channels persist to be a big problem.

Are the duplicates showing up in the scan results, as well? If so, is there a transmitter reference shown in the scan results? If so, are the transmitter references different?

In my area, I am right between 2 low power antenna repeater farms. They have the identical virtual channels on different RF transmitter channels. If I use a non-directional antenna, I get duplicates of most of the virtual channels from the two different antenna farms. In the Tablo scan, they show up duplicated also but with different transmitter “call sign” references. The duplicates are also on 2 different RF channels.

Maybe not your situation, but it is a PITA where I am.

I circled the transmitter IDs in this screen shot. If you have duplicates where these IDs don’t match, you have 2 different sources of the same virtual channels.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?

The channels are not duplicated in the scan results, only in the guide. And the ionplus is not an ota channel.

I have done a full rest and a FW upgrade to the latest with a guide reload. On changes from 2.2.54 to 2.2.56.

Have you done a factory reset of the Tablo 4G and then set it up again?

Yes, lost a TB of recorded shows. I have never had real issue until now. And it’s been three years.

Then I’m out of ideas. Have you called/contacted Tablo?

Yes, but have you uninstalled and reinstalled the Tablo app on your streaming device?

Same android app on my phone with the same problem, yes uninstalled and reinstalled the app back a week a go when i was having recording issues with the guide. That fixed the series recording and then i ended up with the double listing issues.

Yes, i have opened a ticket, l I ke 24 hours ago. And it maybe posable that the recording of Tom Llams works with the double listing. I won’t know until monday evening. I can live with the double listing, but no Tom for the last two weeks.

Hi @Bty1968yurllo ,

It looks like you’re in the new Category View. 10.1 NBC is at the bottom of one category and then listed at the top of another.

The Favorites category appears just above Local Networks. It would make sense that 10.1 NBC may be part of both.

Are you suggesting that i remove the favorite destination? Both 10.1 duplicate channels are shown as favorites. And whatever you are suggesting makes no sense. As well as the ionplus channel duplicates are listed above 10.1 and have no channel numbers. I assume ionplus is a streamed channel.

Solved, kind of! So Ai asked me a question that I did not understand, but it made me wonder if the channel designation as favorite could be the issue. So I went looking for the channel favorites settings. Will for the life of me I can not find this setting to turn a channel favorite on. But what I did find was a setting for “Guide Options” and I had “Category View” selected, listing the channels twice if they where selected as favorites. This is a system glitch! Selecting the option for “Channels View” all is well with the guide. But this does not explain why Tom Llams is not recording, unless this is a second glitch, that when the guide is in “Category View” and listing channels twice, those channels have a conflict.

Okay so this was the case. But why would category view list the same channel twice? Both as favorites? And why would this keep the channel from recording?

So I am going to assume the favorites designation for a channel is the three green dots on the left of a channel listing in channel lineup, that do noting now. They must have worked in the past to allow me to use that setting. Glitch #3

Same discussion on multiple threads…

The star designates favorite. Favorite/Un-favorite by clicking the program and a menu pops up. On Android phone app and LGTV app and Fire Stick 4k app.

Tablo Support site has a plethora of help articles. Just look something up.

Or not. Asking for help is ok. Just don’t expect much.

If you are referring to the channel listing while in the Channel Scan menu, then the 3 green dots are showing signal strength of that particular channel and have nothing to do with favorites. Green dots would assist in whether or not you want to save that channel to your guide. Those with less green dots, or amber may pixelate or not even connect when you select watch.

Please note if you do a channel scan and check mark channels make sure you save the scan or else you will not see them in the program guide.
