Guaranteed disconnect on two specific stations

Configuration - dual lite, ethernet, latest firmware 2.2.24, (as of 2/22/19). 1GB network switch. Clients - FireTV box via ethernet, Firesticks via wifi, Windows 10 PC via Ethernet.

Problem - 32 channels, all play perfectly for hours on end except two Spanish language stations - 25-1 (UNI) and 25-2 (TELE). If I switch to either of those stations and wait 10 seconds I can guarantee the Tablo will disconnect all clients including the one on 25-1/2 and any other network client on the other tuner regardless of station. After about 45 seconds I can reconnect and use the Tablo as normal, but if I access 25-1/2 the problem will occur again with 10 seconds.

The problem is only triggered by these two stations. They are 1080p/strong signal. I was under the impression all stations were just MPEG2 feeds. The only difference between them and everything else is that they are Spanish language. Is it something about closed captioning data tripping the Tablo up? I’m really stumped.

Suggestions welcome, other than suggesting I don’t watch those channels! I am dying to know the technical reason for the lock up.

Further to this, I have…

  • Set the Tablo video to all settings from 10mbps to 2mbps.
  • Set 5.1/2.0
  • Run the Tablo with and without external storage.

There is no difference. As soon as I choose 25-1 or 25-2 it locks in a matter of seconds and stops responding for up to a minute.

I would open a ticket with @TabloSupport. They can arrange remote access so they can look at the logs and hopefully find the root cause.

Your situation sounds unique, interested to follow the situation.

When it disconnects is your Tablo not accessible for 1-2 minutes? Sounds like a weak OTA signal may be triggering your Tablo to reboot (this can happen). The Tablo gets hung up on signal coming in and out and I guess the tuner / CPU freezes up which triggers the reboot. Kind of like the Windows BSOD with out the actual blue screen lol

Have Tablo Support look at your logs, my best bet is it’s weak OTA signal. Do another channel scan and see if those 2 channels are still 5 green dots.
