Frequent pausing and buffering on Tablo GoogleTV App

I started seeing constant pausing and buffering while playing anything on my Tablo GoogleTV App. Same problem playing LiveTV as well as a recording. Newer one or an old one. Other clients seem working fine (My iPhone and Windows WebApp). GoogleTV Tablo App problem started about a week ago. I have tried everything that I saw here, like clearing App cache, App data etc. No change. Only thing I haven’t done yet is reinstalling the app. Any other suggestions here? Was there any software update from a few days ago that might have broken this?

Try restarting the router, Tablo, and streaming device - in that order. Unfortunately, if it works, this might only alleviate the issue temporarily. You’ll probably still need to figure out why this is happening.

I have been running the Tablo app on a Sony Bravia Google TV for a couple of years with no issues (at least not with Google TV). Both the TV and the Tablo are connected via ethernet. The TV has a 3rd-party1gbps USB-3 ethernet dongle and speed tests very close to my 500mbps fiber speed.

I have experimented with connecting the TV via wifi, and that configuration delivers around 300mbps, but also exhibits occasional buffering. Not sure why, other than the TV is mounted in a “shadow box” in the heavily tiled fireplace, and I think that interferes with the (rather weak) wifi part of the TV.

In general, I have better luck streaming over ethernet than wifi, although I have no issues with iPhones or iPads over wifi. The Tablo app on the Google TV ecosystem has been pretty solid.

If you are wifi connected, you may be experiencing changes (such as atmospheric or neighbor’s wifi) that are affecting (interferring with) the TV to router wifi. If you are ethernet connected, it’s possible that something is going on in the router or cabling that is throttling the Tablo data stream to the TV.

Sometimes when the tuners are struggling with decoding the signal it manifests as pausing and buffering.

ATSC 1.0 is prone to multipath issues and perhaps it’s just the leaves falling or the weather.

Either way I usually power down the Gen4 for a minute and try again.

I have no excuse for FAST channels. Power cycle.

Restarting the router fixed the issue. Thanks wysiwyggin for the suggestion. It’s still a mystery to me why only Tablo app was having this issue while other apps (Netflix etc) on the Google TV didn’t show a problem. I think the problem started right after a previous reboot of the router.

If rebooting your router started your problem, try assigning the Tablo a static ip address. The router could have changed the address and the app couldn’t find it.
