Firestick with Ethernet

Not sure why, but several times when watching a recording on Tablo 4th generation the Ethernet connected Firestick has dropped its wired connection and switched to WiFi.

I have seen this happen on two different TVs with Firesticks. I have never seen this happen with any other streaming app.

When this happens, I have to restart the Firestick to get my wired connection back. Usually I have to unplug the Firestick to restart it, the software restart hangs up.

This has not happened often but is it very annoying. I can tell when it happens because I start to get buffering

As long as the Firestick stays connected to Ethernet, everything works great.

This used to happen to use with Roku on the OG Tablo. Haven’t seen it with our new Fire Stick on Gen4 device though. Although, we use ax wifi now.

I’ve had as many as 4 Firestick TVs going in my home over the last few years, all ethernet connected. I don’t recall this ever happening. I always use static IP on these devices, but I don’t know if that would make a difference. Also, you might try clearing the wifi network and password settings on the Firestick. If the ethernet drops for some reason, this may force the Firestick to go back to the ethernet instead of jumping over to wifi.

Check the cable and also reseat the cable on both side.
