Will @TabloEngineering or the dev team be making a new app for Fire TV VegaOS? Or are the specs just not suitable to run the Tablo?

I would imagine so - Vega is based on Linux, as is the Roku OS, so it shouldn’t be that hard to port it.
Porting Fire OS apps to Amazon’s Linux-based Vega OS requires rebuilding or adapting your Android-based codebase, as native Android (AOSP) apps do not run directly on Vega. Vega OS utilizes an embedded React Native and web-centric architecture.
Not talking about porting Fire OS apps to Linux (?) We’re talking porting a Roku-based Linux app to the Linux based Vega OS.
Since fireOS is android based I tried to give what I thought would be the simpler port. Roku OS apps are script based(brightscript).
BrightScript: The procedural and event-driven scripting language used to control application behavior. It handles network requests, data parsing, and business logic. BrightScript is single-threaded per task/screen context and relies heavily on observer design patterns (passing events between your XML components and BrightScript).
Roku OS apps use BrightScript (a language with syntax and roots similar to Visual Basic) combined with Roku SceneGraph (RSG), an object-oriented XML framework. The programming model combines imperative scripting for behavior and declarative, node-based component architectures for the UI
I guess I’m missing your point. I’m not talking about Fire OS here - just two Linux based OS/Apps (Roku and Amazon/Vega). I’m also not saying the Roku can be transferred to Vega directly - it will surely take reworking, but I don’t see any technical reason it can’t be done.
At this time, it’s difficult to estimate when a Tablo app might be available for Vega OS, but we have been working on it for a while now. Tablo will continue to support all other current Amazon Fire TV devices and smart TVs in the meantime.

I thought Vegas OS is Linux based. Amazon is getting away from Android. You can’t really port code from one to the other.
All the plumbing and wiring is completely different and requires a rewrite from scratch.

Fire OS is a amazon fork of a specific version of android with amazon replacing specific pieces with their own. That doesn’t make google happy or make the port of newer android releases to fire OS easier.

How many 100’s of thousands of fire tv sticks with fire OS does amazon have in warehouses. And since they never update the fire OS versions on released models they could be around for a long time.
I s have a fire tv stick gen 2 that still works with the exception of one product. And you guessed it - it’s the tablo gen 4 fire tv stick app.
Not sure why the Tablo app isn’t working with your gen 2 firestick, other than its way past its sell-by date.
Tablo decided to code the gen 4 app using an API version that didn’t exist on that version of the fire tv stick fire OS. It’s a basic developer decision that should have had product management approval.
Of course when the gen 4 app was released I don’t think tablo realized it didn’t work because it was available in the app store. But since the app bombed out when first started I guess tablo decided to block it’s installation on that model.
Tablo app still works on my 3600RW Roku stick (2016). Thats a good thing because all my fire sticks are unusable when the internet goes out as they cant “phone home”. 3600 still gets Tablo though. Do the newer Roku’s still work without internet and do any other brands work. Good to know.
Aparrently a Fire stick will work if you use Wolf launcher, a side load the new OS wont allow.
My 2013 roku 4200 and 2015 4210 still work. But that’s because Roku continues to update their Roku OS version.

How many Recast devices do you have?
None. I’ve own tablo since 2014 and picked it over DVR+ or simpletv.
It may as well just be yet another Gen4 app for a totally new/different streaming device for you to maintain.
