Facebook Group for Tablo 4th Gen Dual & Quad

FWIW, the Facebook group I created a few months ago is now 1,140 strong. TabloTV on Facebook has blocked my profile, and that’s fine. Perhaps they might wish to join my group. Here’s the link: Redirecting...

A few weeks ago I had asked on the Tablo FB page if there was a users group. They directed me to this forum (which I’m glad they did). I will check out your FB group.

We have a CordCutting group on FB about 20k if not more we talk about these type things. I think Tablo, Zapperbox, AntennaMan and others are in it. They just don’t like you to post it here as they want their support to be here not 20 different groups and places.

Why go somewhere else when the best support is probably right here on the Tablo site.

There’d be no need for a Facebook group or any other social media support IF we got help here in this community. I’ve got a thread in this community that’s 74 posts long, and not once has @TabloTV, @TabloEngineering, or @TabloSupport responded in any way whatsoever. Maybe you get benefit from this community, but not everyone does, and I most certainly don’t.

The Facebook group I created has been a fount of knowledge from others who have fought the same issues and may have ideas for workarounds. It wouldn’t exist at all if it weren’t desperately needed.

That’s the reason TabloTV’s Facebook account blocked my profile. They don’t want prospective buyers to join the group and find out how painful the product is to get working right, if at all. There’s some good news posted in the group whenever problems are solved, but as you might expect, some of the posts about Tablo’s manifold imperfections might scare away prospective buyers.

My perspective: Early on I declared that I’d be willing to pay double for a DVR that I could completely rely upon, rather that my Tablo 4th Gen Quad that maybe works 80% of the time. Well, that’s exactly what ended up happening. I’m now the proud owner of an AirTV Anywhere in addition to my Tablo. So I have two DVRs splitting the indoor antenna signal, and when the Tablo recording fails, I always have my AirTV recording as a backup.

I prefer playback on Tablo, but whenever it fails, I’m delighted to have a backup. So I did end up paying double for a DVR combination that’s nearly 100% reliable. I’m very happy with my solution.
