Duration of live playback?

Hi all

Using a 4th gen 2 tuner Tablo. I’ve been troubleshooting a playback issue with my Roku and in this process have discovered something interesting and general to operation of the Tablo itself.

Note that I never plan on using my Tablo for watching live TV unless perhaps I want to watch it via the Tablo app on my smart phone. However, I performed a small experiment earlier today by firing up my TV, then the Roku, then the Tablo app on Roku, then just playing some live TV via the Tablo. I let it play for 20-25 minutes. Then I decided to “rewind” and was shocked to see I could rewind all the way back to when I first began playing the show. I’m not sure why, but I was a bit surprised by this.

So the question I have is this: How much TV is stored when viewing via Tablo? I’m thinking this HAS to be data written to either the internal Tablo memory or to the hard drive if one is attached.

Also, if a hard drive IS attached, does the live TV bit get written to the hard drive or to internal memory?

Curious minds want to know!

Thanks

Cheers… Rick
