I recorded a CBS soccer game on 4/5/22 from 3pm to 5pm.
It recorded 3 hours.
The game ended at 4:51.

If you have Auto Extend Live Recordings enabled (default setting) It works as describe here. It extends the recording by 50% so that would be 3 hours . It works good for events that might go over like a soccer game. Wouldn’t want to miss the big ending 
Thank you for explaining it. I agree that it is good. The perfect world would be if I can toggle it on or off.
You CAN toggle it on and off, just at a system level. In the article that was linked above this is the last bullet item says this…
“Auto Extend Live will be enabled by default but can be turned off within the Settings screen”
