I would like to be able to change the Default Recording to add one or two minutes, start and stop times, to all recordings by default. I sometimes encounter shows beginning a little early or running a bit late. I have a quad tuner Gen 4 and so far have had no recording conflicts to address.
(If this option is already available I haven’t found it – my apologies if it exists.)
Hi Jeb;
Suggest you start adding 5 minutes, which you can do in Recording Options (for either a single episode or an entire series)…
If you now have a conflict (and didn’t before), you can simply undo that time extension… And I’d be willing to bet that if you have a conflict at 5 minutes, you’d also have that same conflict at a 1 or 2 minute time extension..
But yes, there are a few movie channels that start or end 1-2 minutes off schedule, and all we can do is deal with it the best we can…
Good luck!
It is more a question of convenience (fewer clicks to scheduling) and to offset my forgetfulness. TiVos allow this sort of default recording option and I am used to it.
If you have 1 show recording 8pm-9pm and 2 shows that start at 9pm-10pm, what happens if tablo automatically extends the 8pm-9pm show to 9:04pm.
That’s the reason tablo addressed the problem on legacy by adding the feature that allows the user to add or subtract minutes to the start or end of the recording.
Well, it sure can.. Just depends on how many things you’re trying to record…
Also, I’ve noticed that even if you record two things on the same channel, back to back, if you extend the first one, the tablo treats that as an overlap..
And IF you’re also recording a simultaneous recording on another channel, during that overlap, you’re going to have a conflict.. As-in trying to record three programs at the same time.. Even though one of those is on the same channel, recording the same thing..
And an aside, I don’t think my old Tivo used to treat the same-channel conflicts like that… But regardless, yes, adding time extensions can certainly cause conflicts… Not a big deal, usually, but, it’s good to be aware of it…
