Hi @Cpu_Smith ,
That is strange,
Which device do you see this on? If you look at the guide with a different device (such as your phone or tablet) do you see the same problem?
This is the same problem that I have reported twice. It’s Android phone app.
Thanks @CarbonCompound ,
We’ve flagged the product team.
Are these duplicates coming from the same transmitter? Sometimes the same virtual channel can come from 2 different transmitters (2 different antenna farms). I have this issue in my area.
Check the Tablo channel scan results and see those virtual channels are repeated under 2 different transmitter IDs.
He’s in Dallas and there’s an antenna farm. I’ve reported that same issue. The product team was informed.
Sigourney Weaver in Galaxy Quest…
It was just a thought. I eventually switched to a directional antenna for higher gain on the transmitters I wanted, and good rejection of the duplicate transmitters on different RF channels I didn’t want.
I’m curious … are these guide duplicates also shown in the results of the Tablo channel scan, or do they just appear once in that list?
I should add … there are still 2 transmissions of MeTV from 2 different transmitters in the same antenna farm in my area. One is a 720p/5.1 “8.1 main channel”, and the other is a 480i/2.0 “4.2 sub channel”. I just check the higher quality 8.1 version, and don’t check the lower quality 4.2 version in the Tablo scan list. If I checked them both, I would get 2 instances of MeTV in my guide.
Only in the list(s). When in Category Guide mode it builds a table array for display. So if you go to the program list and go one by one until the category changes on the left you can see it function.
But click on the Category and it displays the first program of the category on the forth line. The first three lines are the previous category. When you have fewer entries in the table like you do and the OP… It displays as dups.
Looking in the channel scans there are no duplicates in Dallas. Well LPTV don’t count.
Definitely sounds like a coding logic issue. ChatGPT coding strikes again!
My MeTV thing FYI …
If I use a non-directional antenna, I get complete duplicates of every virtual channel from 2 different antenna farms located in almost opposite directions. PITA.
You are correct, Sir. I do use a CM omnidirectional antenna for Tropo hobby.
That’s why I suggested to you before to add 3 channels and see if MeTV straightened out.
I see it in your scan. We have bunches of duplicate networks in Dallas. Some LPTV can have the same broadcast on 6 different stations…
I go through after a scan and delete/deselect/hide any duplicates. Shop LC must be on 6 or 7 channels. HSN, QVC, Charge, Dabl, Defy, Outlaw, 365blk, Bounce…
That is still different and more complicated than what I described.
After clarifying with the product team, we learned that when a channel is featured or favorited, it will not be removed from the other categories. For instance, favorites and locals are next to each other in the guide; a favorited local channel will appear in both and seem to be duplicated.
Okie dokie it’s working as designed. I removed all the Favorites and that guide is now empty. I have redisplayed each category and although I can see that some may perhaps be miscategorized, the overall indexing issue does not reappear.
It’s curious that the ‘Kids’ category (and a few others) only has a single entry - create This Old House - a very popular childrens program… But the entire screen is populated by other programs from the next category or categories.
So categories are defined by channels and not by program or shows. That why there’s no ‘Sports’ category. Or ‘Westerns’. We have to use the old list to the far left where the Home button resides.
I added a Sports FAST channel and the category appears! Yay?
For the Fire Stick 4k G2… Removing Favorites made no difference. Each category displays the three last entries of the prior category. They are neither favorite or featured.
