Channels in live TV don't match guide

Hi all,

My tablo 4th Gen 4 tuner is doing something strange and I didn’t find anything similar doing a search.

The full channel guide is as it has been since I first got the Tablo. It shows all of my correct ota channels and guide data.

When watching live ota on my TCL Google TV, one feature I really like is the ability to hit the down button and selecting “channels” to see what’s currently airing on the other channels and quickly tune to another channel without having to go back to the full guide.

It doesn’t appear this feature is available on the Roku, android, or ios apps.

Starting yesterday (at least from what I can remember), the channels listed in this area are none of my actual channels. I’m in the Pittsburgh area, and looking up the channel names that are displayed here appear to be Nashville based. Selecting any of these channels give an error which tells me these are actually trying to get to a channel I don’t get (rather than just incorrect thumbnails and show names.)

My guide settings still have my correct zip code listed. Any idea what’s going on, and if there’s a way I can force that channels area to refresh with what is listed in the real guide?

I did try manually refreshing the guide data a few times. Here’s some pictures for reference

Did you try a different zip code for your area. My Legacy Tablo worked fine for years using my zip code. Then one day it didn’t. The guide was empty. I had to switch to the other (the only other) zip code for my city and it worked fine and has been ever since. Not sure why this happened.

I have to ask, how did you get that guide across the bottom while watching live? I don’t think mine will do that. I am running a Gen 4 Tablo and viewing using a variety of Roku devices. I wonder if this is a feature not available on my platform.

Sorry, I just re-read your post and you mentioned that this is not available on Roku devices. I missed reading that the first time around. I hope they add that feature.

Since the last software update I noticed this. It changes randomly. I have seen local channels from Ohio & then on the next visit San Francisco (I am in NJ). Other times it has appeared correctly. I am using a Chromecast with GoogleTV.

Interesting. I’ll try changing zip codes to see if it fixes it, but seeing this latest reply, I’m going to think it won’t help…

I did change my zip code to the next town over, reran the channel scan, and refreshed guide data… The channels listed below the live TV are still wrong, the full guide is still correct.

Looks like a new scan revealed 2 new (useless) sub-channels that must have been added sometime in the past few months… It’s the small wins.

Have you tried force quitting the app and cheating data or cache?

Hi Rawveeda,

We did some digging and have cleared this up on our end.

If you are still having this problem, it should be resolved soon.

Yesterday morning I noticed that the fix was in place, and the channels below the live TV match up just fine… Thank you Tablo for responding, investigating, and resolving this issue!

I was going to post this while watching football yesterday, but then the yucky outage was occurring. I didn’t want the praise of support to get buried in all of the outage chatter. It is unfortunate that such an outage occurred again, and it seems the network dependency is still very much there. I feel that widespread issues like this can stain a reputation and overshadow the good, hard work that is being done.

Fortunately, I have direct antenna lines to each TV in addition to the Tablo. Also I’ve been down the outage road a few times with tablo since the beginning of the year, so I checked my various devices (tvs, rokus, and phones/tablet both Android and ios). When nothing was working after a quick reboot of the Tablo, I knew to check here / Facebook before doing something drastic and factory resetting.

Tablo really needs to remove the network dependency for local access. For new, non tech savvy users, I can totally understand frustration and immediate mistrust of the device moving forward. TV needs to be super easy, period.
