Don’t judge (ha ha). I found a channel playing old series I like but did not have time to watch when they were aired. I recorded them, and have a nice catalog of shows from all seasons. When I select the video I get the catalog and can play the video… Now I get the wheel of wait. After a period of time Tablo gives up and mocks me.
I noticed another channel was airing some shows from series. I recorded the show so it shows in “RECENT”. The fresh recording got me back to the catalog, so I have a work around? Nope. That stopped working and back to WHEEL OF WAIT… Good bye.
No other series does this, just this one. This one is also the most recordings, a lot. Like season 1 to 19 (or whatever).
Two things, like to watch the shows. Second if I can’t watch them, I want to clear them and get Hard drive space back. Series still shown in ALL SHOWS menu. I am sure they are there, just can’t access.
I ask the following questions knowing that this is likely not hte issue, but… out of curiosity, do you have enough storage space for these recordings? Also, how strong is your current signal strength for this station (you’ll have to run a rescan to find out, but you don’t have to save no matter the signal level).
I’ve both experienced and read about another user with this same problem (one show on one channel won’t play). The only way either of us were able to resolve the issue was to set recordings to NONE, erase all the recordings, reboot the tablo (NOT reset), and then 30m later, reschedule the recordings.
I had the same issue with Judge Judy. My wife loves that show. She watches it every day.
It was only with Judge Judy. Literally everything else works fine. I even watched Judy live, while it was recording… no blip, pixelization, ran like normal. Then played it back, It did the same as you.
We had like 30 episodes recorded… I had to log into my iPhone and deleted ALL the Judy recordings. Then it worked fine the next day. I think we had a recording that borked. Tablo didnt like it. Until it was deleted.
Edit: I could have went through each episode on my iPhone and found the bad one. But I was being too lazy and the wifey was breathing down my neck. So I hit Delete ALL and prayed it would work the next day. I did not want to reset my Tablo I have almost 3TB of recorded movies and shows.
Sorry for delay. It is a 2 TB drive with 800 mb remaining. If I can’t get at these I want to delete them as they are taking a big chunk of that 1.2 TB. (EDIT: Breakthrough below)
Erase all recordings is the issue. I can’t access them to errase them. They don’t show in recent. They are in the catalog. The 400 shows are there taking space for sure. I am starting to be resigned to erasing the whole drive and starting over. (EDIT: breakthrough below.)
BINGO!!! Well well well. So I have 4 APPS, two on android phones (Samsung A32 and S23) and two on Roku 4K stream sticks, jammed into the back of two TV’s, HDMI input. It is the Roku sticks that are sticking. I rarely watch shows on phone. But the program (all +400 shows of Pawn Stars) is there and playable. Yeah. I can watch them in glorious 6.5 diagonal inches of screen, Ha ha. Frankly that is OK. I feel better. At least I have an out to delete them. I need to watch them or delete them. Thank you.
It sounds like Roku is causing a ton of problems lately. You might want to pick up a cheap android device just to make it through all of this! ($15 for HD, $20 for 4k onn Walmart stick/box)… at least you’ll be able to watch them if you’re unable to cast them to your TV!
In regards to access to the one series, Yes Roku obviously. The issue more specifically the interface of Roku App and Tablo. It takes two to tango. It should not do that. I may reload App on Roku and set-up, reboot on and on, but I am good for now watching on phone. Pawn stars does not demand 4K large screen to watch junk being pawned and hear Rick talk about the history of said artifact. Ha ha.
Roku 4k sticks have been rock solid for shy or a year. This loss of access to a series is not just me (read above). It is a bug. Common to both is large collection of episodes, I have what I think is a lion share of 17 seasons, 400 episodes. Tablo chokes on it using the non android App, The android app can handle it. I don’t know what kind of operating system Roku has.
I already have two Androids and an iPad Mini Gen 5. Why would I buy another phone? I love owning technology but don’t like being owned by it. I have two laptops. I am good on devices. Too bad you can’t stream to a laptop. It must be copy right issues.
You could always download an android emulator for your computer. I was using one all morning to catch up on late night talk shows.
As to “would i buy another phone?” I was not referring to an android device much like your Roku, not a phone. It was merely a suggestion. Plus, having a different viewing device gives you options if there’s ever an issue with one ecosystem, like Roku not working in this case. Again, $15 or $20 is a pretty good bargain for that sense of security.
Yes, you are correct, it take two to Tango, but Roku does have a reputation for not playing nice with others. They don’t give developers much advanced access to updates. I have a friend that works at a ‘major broadcast network’ in the same facility as their streaming service. He is constantly hearing the app programmers complain about how hard it is to keep up with Roku’s OS updates. It doesn’t help that they hold a better than 50% market share…including my four TVs.
From everything I have read the onn Android TV streaming device give the most stable experience with Tablo.
Perhaps true, but AFAIK, Roku is orders of magnitude better than Tizen, WebOS, etc.
Android is a mixed bag. You can make something that runs on “Android” but it may run on some Android and not on others. Due to those weird licensing and codec issues. YMMV.
I come back from vacation to find I can’t watch any of my recorded shows on my Roku 4K. I can watch them on my old Roku 1080 res. I can also watch on my android devices. Thx Roku 4k and Tablo.
