Can’t scan and save channels / no guide data / NO TV

Fire stick. Unable to scan and save channels on the fire stick and on my OS app. Scans successfully on both apps, but unable to save. On the fire stick if I try to save I get an unknown error. All options to save the scan are not accessible, Or greyed out. Guide data is completely empty. Unable to watch TV





In looking at your first image, I don’t see any channels selected.

Also, my Save and Continue button is greyed out until I make a change.

That’s a good observation. But I’ve never had to go through 153 channels and select them all manually. Usually, I only have to deselect the ones that I don’t want. I’m also noticing, the Same thing on the OS app.

So with that observation, I chose a few channels on the fire stick app, and they DID NOT show up in my channel list after I saved it.

I did the same test on my Apple device, and chose only a few channels. Those channels that I chose on the OS app DO show up on the fire stick now that I’ve enabled them.

But again This isn’t normal. Usually, I do a full scan and just have to go through and delete the Spanish channels because I don’t speak Spanish. I never had to select all of them manually. And I never had to use the OS app, I was always able to use the fire stick app. So I would say that there still is a problem.

I’m also attaching a screenshot of the OS list of channels. Notice that 8.2 is the one that I chose. There’s no easy indication that the other channels have the option of being chosen unless you actually tap on that channel (no empty circle). Again, on the OS app previously you only had to choose the ones that you did not want to keep. The issue of not being able to SAVE a choice is not a problem as long as you make a singular choice or more (thanks to your observation)

Ya, that is odd that there are no channels selected after you run a channel rescan. I remember that used to occur once it a while on my Legacy Tablo, but not on the new Gen4 Tablo. This may require a Support Request.

I suppose you’ve already restarted it - maybe unplug for 30 seconds and plug it back in?

I did start a request. Thanks for your help. At least I have a work around.

The “support” consisted of them telling me that my Tablo is online and then they closed the ticket. That was a big waste of time.

I’m sure they have many more serious problems to look at and solve. This type of ticket could lay around for many months unless it starts showing up on lots of units.

That’s too bad. Are you still seeing the same issue? I’ve seen some Guide issues clear up after a couple/few days. I hate to say it, but maybe wait it out and check again in another day.

Well, we kind of figured it out that i can add the channels in through the OS app. That’s the only way that I can add the channels at the moment.

Fortunately for me, Tablo TV is not my primary tv source. However, it is my only way of watching some local channels, and it is my only way of recording some channels. Tablo 4th generation had worked well for me from December 2023 until recently.

Now every time I choose Tablo on my Fire Stick or my iOS app, the best I can do is watch what I previously recorded.

The iOS app constantly shows “Start Channel Scan” but I can’t save.
The Fire Stick app shows no channels, no favorites.
I can’t watch anything except recorded shows.
Reset changes nothing.

I have the same problem on my 4 tuner. It won’t let me save channels. I have zero on live tv. I have tried on my mobile phone to setup antenna. It finds the channel but i am unable to save and finish setup. This leaves me with no tv to watch or record.

Also when i rescan guide on fire tv it finds the channel but when I go to save and exit I get a message in red ’ an unknown error has occurred’

Well, I was getting the same error. And what we discovered was that when I do the scan on the OS app, it does show all the channels that it found but I had to actually tap on each channel to get a checkmark on it. Once I did that it actually updated on my fire stick as well.

Thank you. That worked. Not sure why we had to do this check mark on each channel. Never did that before.
