My 4th Gen Tablo is less than a year old but suddenly the blue light just died.
I tried rebooting and toggling the LED light settings but could not get the light to return.
As far as I’ve been able to determine, the unit is still otherwise functional. Live TV works, and my recordings (stored on the internal drive) appear intact. I haven’t tried recording yet.
I called the Tablo tech support number and they said that since the unit was otherwise working there was nothing they could do. I’ve read elsewhere of users receiving a replacement unit due to this issue, but apparently they are no longer willing to do this.
I am unhappy about this. Whilst the failure of the blue light may not be a critical issue, it does serve an important visual feedback function when doing certain things like reboots and updates.
Just thought I would mention my experience here, in case other users run across this same issue.
I have seen a number of similar reports, although I haven’t heard of folks getting them replaces. I would say that LED has a higher than normal failure rate, but does not otherwise impact its function.
The LED really isn’t needed except for certain diagnostic purposes.
My blue light went out when I was having trouble with the UPS Tablo was plugged into. The battery was almost dead. Unplugged everything and plugged it all back into a power strip/surge protector. It was then I noticed the light was out. A few days later after installing a new battery in the UPS and plugging everything back into it, I noticed the light was back on but very dim. A day or so later it was back on bright as new. That was months ago and it’s still on.
My Legacy 4-Tuner’s blue LED has been burned out for years. Doesn’t affect day-to-day operation but makes it difficult when tech wants me to put it in remote mode and I can’t tell if I actually did it.
I just noticed the blue LED on my Gen4 4-tuner is out but the device is working just fine. I check it regularly so it just happened in the last week. Maybe it will come back on at some point. I’ve had it since Dec 2023.
Over the last few weeks the blue light would come back from time to time. But it would only stay lit for a minute or two.
Then a couple of days ago, it came back and stayed lit for a solid couple of days! It wasn’t as bright as the obnoxiously bright blue light that we’ve all come to know and love, but it stayed on and it would respond to changes in the settings (On, Off, Dim). Then, just when I thought it was back to stay, it just now went dark again. Weird weird stuff. Oh well..
Other than this oddity, everything else seems to be functioning normally. Still luv ya Tablo!
