Black boxes when selecting "Library"

When selecting “Library” to view my recorded programs, I very frequently see black boxes with no information at all. If I wait 15 or 20 seconds, some of the data and logos fill in, but sometimes it doesn’t. When scrolling up and down through the recorded programs. a lot of black boxes appear where there was data a few seconds ago. (Scrolling through the program guide has the same issue).

Does this happen on all clients or a particular one?

Not sure what you mean by “clients”, but it happens randomly with all recordings. Sometimes, it does seem like some recorded shows take longer for the data to show up than others. The recordings are all from major channels (CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX).

For example, when I tried it just now, all recordings showed black boxes. After 5-10 seconds, some of the logos popped in and some of the other black boxes showed the program name, but no logos. After a while longer, some of the logos showed up. When I have a lot of recordings, scrolling up and down causes some of the boxes that had data to turn black again. If I wait they might eventually fill in again, but not all the time. If I fool around with it long enough, the logos eventually show up.

I meant is it happening on a Roku, GoogleTv, AppleTv, FireTV, Samsung TV, LG TV, mobile, etc.

OK, that makes sense. I have the latest Amazon Fire Stick 4k Max. I do not own any other devices so I can’t try it with any other clients.

Edit: I just tried my iPhone and it does not have the problem. Once the data loads, scrolling is very smooth, and the data and logos do not disappear.

That is one device I don’t have, but there are others here that do, as well as the Tablo Support user. Hopefully someone can assist.

We have the same FireTV Stick 4k Max and we see the same issue but ours clears up most of the time after a few or a dozen seconds. And you can’t select a recorded program until you know what you’re selecting. It becomes a waiting game. I think @snowcat is right - contact support if it’s persistently affecting your use.

@wysiwyggin Mine works the same. It does eventually clear up. I don’t think that support can help …the black boxes are just a result of how the software is operating. It seems as if the Tablo is always fetching data for the “Library” screen as I scroll, and it gets worse if I have a lot of recordings.

It is similar to the way that the program guide operates. As I scroll up and down through the guide, I see many instances of “Programming not available”, where information was displayed just seconds ago. The guide data does eventually show up if I keep playing around in the interface. Here again, it seems as if the Tablo is always fetching the guide data and just can’t keep up, resulting in “Programming not available”. I know that you have seen the same thing (as you have posted in other threads).

I have a fiber optics connection to the internet, 500Mbps both up and down, I have checked the wireless speed to the Fire Stick 4K Max, and it is 390Mbps, so I do not think that my internet or wireless speed is the problem. (…and my Tablo uses a wired connection to the router).
